WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones, senior American officials said on Sunday. Mr. Comey has argued that the highly charged claim is false and must be corrected, they said, but the department has not released any such statement.
Mr. Comey made the request on Saturday after Mr. Trump leveled his allegation on Twitter. Mr. Comey has been working to get the Justice Department to knock down Mr. Trump’s claim because there is no evidence to support it and it insinuates that the F.B.I. broke the law, the officials said.
A spokesman for the F.B.I. declined to comment. Sarah Isgur Flores, the spokeswoman for the Justice Department, also declined to comment.

I find that “senior American officials” a strange way to put it. Why would they feel the need to single out an American official? As opposed to a German official? I would lay odds this whole thing is spurious. We will soon find out.

Speaking of the Russian ambassador— I caught Mike Baker on Fox for a few minutes earlier with the Left tilted Arthel and she asked him about AG Sessions. Baker said you can’t swing a dead cat in DC without hitting an ambassador. And this particular ambassador is the biggest social gadfly of them all. It would be virtually impossible for a senator not to have talked to him.

Americans, including conservatives and their politicians, have let the left have its way, ceded the field to the left, and let them run wild.
Trump has hit them back, and they aren’t used to it. Like the bullies they are, they are surprised when one of their victims actually swings back and lands a blow.
I would love things to be puppy dogs, kittens, and sunshine, but every day we wait for that to happen (or we delude ourselves into thinking we can continue to surrender ground to the left without ending up with our backs to a cliff) the ratchet of liberalism takes another turn on the gear.
Their are multiple articles in the Press saying there was a wiretap
So if Trump secretly try to get to the bottom of this there be charges of using undue influence of trying to cover up by Trump and the press would spin it as Trump is trying to hide interfere with and investigation into him
But with the tweet he brings out the press reports in to the open and demands an open investigation ... so no accusation Trump is trying interfere with the investigation

Exactly. The rush to credit these “senior American officials” is entirely unnecessary. When the NYT prints Fake News, it typically blows up on them in short order. With just the merest degree of patience, we’ll all know for certain sooner than later.

Trump just released the accusations yesterday morning. There is no way Comey would’ve had enough time to review all of the evidence and two then send a request to the justice department to deny the request.
