WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones, senior American officials said on Sunday. Mr. Comey has argued that the highly charged claim is false and must be corrected, they said, but the department has not released any such statement.
Mr. Comey made the request on Saturday after Mr. Trump leveled his allegation on Twitter. Mr. Comey has been working to get the Justice Department to knock down Mr. Trump’s claim because there is no evidence to support it and it insinuates that the F.B.I. broke the law, the officials said.
A spokesman for the F.B.I. declined to comment. Sarah Isgur Flores, the spokeswoman for the Justice Department, also declined to comment.

If the papers and network news were no longer influential, then why in the hell is the Trump/Russian corruption scandal been in the news for months? If the Internet revolution is so mighty, then why has this story led the news on multiple days and why is everyone at work talking about it and why are people saying Trump needs to be investigated.
The mainstream news media is still more influential than the internet is and will be as long as millions listen to the network news and their echo chambers.
If the main newspapers, network news and the rest of the mainstream media is so weakened by the internet revolution, then why did Sessions recuse himself. Why was Obama able to get away with the things he did. It was because the mainstream media covered up for him.
I am well aware there are multiple ways to get news, but the mainstream media is still the most influential and will be for a long time.
And there would be a record of that. NOT having any such record before the accusation is a mistake. It wouldn’t have to be enough to make a conclusive court case. Just enough to show that the system was surveilled.
Without any such record, any of the bad actors can simply say no such surveillance took place.

What is the average age of this group? Most must be Democrats, since neither Republicans nor independents trust the MSM. If you break your figures down accurately, you will almost certainly discover that the MSM is preaching to an aging choir.
How anyone can be sentient and still believe the MSM is the most influential news source is amazing. If it were, we’d have President Hillary. And just because the MSM fixates on something does mean the average person cares. Even the no good, leftist-leaning pollsters have Trump above 50% approval. If your premise were accurate, he’d be low 40s at best.
Btw, what do you think matters more to most vonstituents: Sessions’ recusal or the economy? I can’t help it if the MSM is working hard to further erode their audience and credibility. That’s their choice.
