Bill Bennett: Who Could Conceive a President Would Wiretap a Rival?
NewsMax ^ | March 4, 2017 | By Sandy Fitzgerald

The Federal Information Surveillance Act has been a hotly debated piece of legislation, but nobody could have conceived that a sitting president or administration would use it to spy on a candidate from the opposing party, former Education Secretary Bill Bennett said Saturday.

"There is no question under the law that you can do surveillance of private citizens when they are talking to foreign powers," Bennett told Fox News' "Fox and Friends" after President Donald Trump, in a series of early Saturday morning tweets, accused former President Barack Obama of wiretapping his phones at Trump Tower in October, just before the election.

However, said Bennett, who could have conceived that Obama, or his FBI or Justice Department, would have used the act to watch Trump. Bennett does not blame the president for being "hot on this one, as he should be. What will the American people think of this?"

In February, author James Hirson reported that days before Trump's inauguration, Obama issued an executive order allowing the National Security Agency to share raw communications with other intelligence agencies including the FBI, the DEA, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Further, the Justice Department and the FBI under Obama had been seeking FISA warrants against Trump's campaign insiders and Trump in the last months of the 2016 campaign, mere days before then-president-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, former President Barack Obama expanded the ability of intelligence agencies to share unfiltered telephone surveillance information.

The Obama administration issued Executive Order 12333, which allows the National Security Agency (NSA) to share raw intercepted communications with agencies that include the FBI, DEA and Department of Homeland Security — among others.

This kind of surveillance and illegal activities by government remind me of what took place in the USSR in the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s reported by people lucky enough to escape the commies.

As President of the United States, Trump can obtain all the evidence he needs or those that will not provide it, goes before the proper authority after being charged with failure to obey orders of the President. No one has higher authority than the President. If classified he can declassify anything.

For a sitting president to do this... hell for that president to continue being active to the point of seditious after leaving office... is so unprecedented that it almost defies credulity.

You don't know the fake-news MSM/Democrats.

The most we can expect is that at some point far down the road, after unbelievable amounts of dirt are thrown and an endless list of lies are told against us, we'll get a "mistakes were made" statement out of an Obama spokesman, and the whole thing will be dropped into the MSM memory hole.

The FISA court denied the application as being overbroad when it was initially submitted in June...

Jim, please note that the article says the application was initially submitted in June. Trump was not even the official nominee of the Republican Party in June. The Republican National Convention occurred Jul 18—21, 2016. The Left's Russian meme wasn't even started until around October. So what were Obama's goons doing spying on then totally private citizen Trump and his associates? Were they setting this all up that far back? This is an extremely important point that I hope you or LS or any other FReeper in a position to do so will make every effort to bring out as publicly as possible.

Although I don't remember during which debate it occurred, I recall that Trump was asked about Putin. Trump had said that Putin said nice things about him, so he said polite things about Putin in return. That seems to have been what the Left seized on to begin inventing this entire mess.

One more point following up on related article posted on FR re Obama's spokesman's response this afternoon about Trump's tweet. That article says, "On Saturday, former President Obama’s spokesman Kevin Lewis denied that the former White House or the former President himself would have given such an order to wiretap Trump Tower—or any other type of surveillance in any case—but that such an order would have come from an “independent investigation led by the Department of Justice.”

What independent investigation was the DOJ conducting last June that required wiretapping Trump Tower? The only investigation that we in the public were aware of at the time was into Hillary's email scandal, and I believe Comey cleared her around that time. So why did they need to request FISA ok to wiretap a man who was not yet even the Republican nominee?

Who could conceive that a President (Obama) and a Secretary of State (Clinton) would attack Libya and have Qadaffi killed so that George Soros could get Libya’s wealth?

Kinda wonder if Obama would have gotten away with it but for Hillary’s inability to stand upright unassisted and a key boost from the traitor also known as Julian Assange.

Graham’s position seems to be, “If Obama was able to get a wiretap against, Trump, Trump is worse than I feared!” Has Barry ever taken Linda to Man’s Country?

Recent Tweet from Pence. They’re tightening the screws. Some big stuff is about to happen.

The Vice President
@MikePenceVP

Will Obama make history again and be the first former President of the United States to be jailed?

That’s not VP Mike Pence’s twitter account - it is a fan account.

Pence’s official twitter account is @VP

He is ticked at the AP for publishing his wife’s private email and other personal info and about to go to war with them!

I tracked it down (not hard). This is from a “fan account,” IOW not from Mr. Pence.
