Excellent point. If Trump can get rid of the multi-language diversity nonsense and provide decent jobs for everyone, recently-arrived Hispanics will move more and more into the American middle class. And that’s Republican territory.

I can only speak for the city I live in, not the whole state of Texas. Valley Ranch is a community within Irving, TX, was once home to the Dallas Cowboys.

We've lived here 20 years, and have seen the demographics change from 75% white to 40% white, with the remaining 60% spread out between Indians and Asians. About a mile from my house is a mosque housed in the old VR library, and it's grown rapidly. My grandson, technically a "white Hispanic" (1/4 Hispanic, 3/4 Anglo) is the only white kid in his kindergarten class.

Our 'burb has become one of the go-to communities for Indians on H-1b's, my block is now 80% Indian, and I will likely sell my house to a multigenerational Indian family in a few years.

Voting patterns have not changed with the demographics. VR continues to vote at least 65% Republican, that hasn't changed much over the years. The schools are great (Coppell ISD), low crime, people get along. My two oldest children are now 28 & 30, they had a great educational experience, and my youngest is now a freshman in HS.

All religious denominations have experienced extraordinary growth. My Catholic parish, St. Ann in Coppell, has grown from 400-8000 families in a little over 20 years, and is now the 6th largest Catholic parish in the country.

Whether native or "naturalized", Texans here make it a point to talk about our traditions. I went to my grandson's KG class on Veteran's Day; though I kept it light, I planted the seed with those children that American and Texas traditions and values are worth emulating, such as military service, freedom, individual responsibility and honoring veterans and Founding Fathers.

Most of the students raised their hands when I asked them if English was the second language in their house. I think my response took them a bit by surprise, when I told them I understand. During my 4 years in Germany, I learned to speak the language quite well. So I told them it's in everyone's interest that all of their family members learn to speak and read English. For me, knowing how to converse in German made my last two and a half years much more enriching.

Will Texas stay R forever? Doubtful, but we won't go down without a fight, unlike states like California.
