The Prez mentioned the infrastructure program and how it will provide millions of well paying jobs, but nothing was mentioned about the promised energy independence program that would have created well paying jobs in the states that depend on an oil and gas industry that has been depressed for the past two years. Can it be assumed that the energy independence program has fallen by the wayside like the other EI programs proposed in past years?
That’s probably why they made such a quick exit.
I suspect a lot of Democrats looked at Donald Trump this evening, put politics aside for a moment, and realized just how awful it would have been to have Hillary Clinton on TV for the next four years.

I think Van saw the makeup of demo leaders and watched the old dude demo response. Van is just sending up a flare that the old white guys in his party have got to step aside for younger, hipper and more “colorful” alternatives.
Trump didn’t specifically use the words, “energy indpependence,” but he was quite emphatic about moving forward with pipeline projects and putting coal miners back to work. If not a specific declaration of energy independence, it was certainly momentum in that direction.
While watching this epic Trump moment, I realized that any Democrat response to that magnificent speech would be futile.
Pelosi looked awful; I was surprised. She usually dresses up; but she looked like she was in pain just being there.
I was watching their reaction as well.
