Barack and Michelle Close to Signing Record-Breaking Deal Worth Over $60 MILLION For Memiors
Daily Mail ^ | 17:49 EST, 28 February 2017 | Chris Spargo

Barack and Michelle Obama have whipped the literary world into a frenzy with the news that the former president and first lady are getting to work on new books, and looking for a publisher. Multiple people with knowledge of the joint publishing deal currently on the table for global rights to both memoirs tell the Financial Times that bidding has already surpassed $60million in what is described as the 'most hotly anticipated deal of the year.' And that amount could grow as there are no shortage of interested publishing houses, with Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, Harper Collins and Penguin Random House said to be interested in the deal. It is Penguin however who appears to have the slight edge, having published Barack's three previous titles.

There is no release date for either of the memoirs, but news of who will be securing the rights could come as early as Tuesday evening. That would mean the Obamas 'yuuuuge' deal might be announced just as President Trump prepares to address a joint session of Congress for the first time in office. There is also a chance however that it could take weeks to finalize the deal. No matter how long it takes however, no book deal has ever come close to paying an author this much money, with the closest example being the the $150million James Patterson reportedly received from Hachette in 2009 as part of a 17-book deal. That breaks down to a little less than $10million a book, as opposed to he $30million Barack and Michelle each stand to make in their deal.

There is no way the dollar store can sell 60 million books.

C*R*A*Z*Y the way money is tossed around.

Do those two hustlers have a sufficient number of stupid fans to buy their self-aggrandizing, highly-fictionalized memoirs?

I can't imagine such fools, but that's me.

Eight years of those two almost did me in. I'd be deliriously happy to never hear a word from or about either ever again!

Absolutely.

I really wish we could have insight into how the financing really works. I DON’T think the money is coming from the publishing house. It’s Soros, or the Saudis or China or someone. It’s just a big fat gift to Obama. No one can possibly expect that sales will be high or that profits will be made. It’s an obviously bad business deal for the publisher. But that’s OK — I suspect the publisher is barely involved. It’s basically Soros saying, “I want to give my friend Barack $60M — and oh, by the way, if you funnel the money to him, you can have a nice tax write off for all the money you will lose when his awful book fails to sell.”

Has to be.

They could never sell enough books to be paid 60 million advance.

Tens of millions of dollars were probably funneled to a publisher
under the table for this very purpose.

Wouldn't surprise me if George Soros agrees to purchase 2 million copies, just to drive up sales figures.

The 0dunga's memoirs aren't worth 60 bucks let alone 60 million.

“No way they’ll sell more than a few thousand books, so the sellers are washing a lot of money.”

The way this works is, I want to give a politician a bribe for favors. I go to a publisher and say, I want to give Obama 10 million dollars. How much will you charge? This is over lunch or a drink. They will say 12 million dollars. The money has now been washed. The transaction is entirely legal, providing there is no evidence in writing about the negotiations; either between me and Obama or me and the publisher. Probably, the whole thing is handled through intermediaries.

At $29.95 it would take over 4 million books just to pay the advance, figuring a 50/50 split with the retailer, let alone break even after production and distribution costs.

They will sell about 100K copies with bulk book deals, library purchases and political gifting. That will leave the publishers 59 mill in debt. Funny, aint it?

I stopped counting his acts of treason 2 years ago when I got to 25, I thought what’s the point? Nobody did anything about it. But that should take up a good portion of the book. “How I committed one act of treason after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another after another and got away with it.”

Just as with the Clintons, I immediately smelled a money laundering scheme upon reading the title.

Clintons did same thing.
