Google-owned robotics firm and “nightmare” factory Boston Dynamics has released video of its latest creation: a two-wheeled, four-legged hybrid robot named Handle.
The robot can stand on four legs, like Boston Dynamics’ previous creations such as BigDog and Spot. But at the end of its back two legs are two stabilised wheels, which let it stand up vertically and roll around at speeds of up to nine miles per hour. Think “Terminator riding on a hoverboard” and you’ll have a pretty good idea of the impression Handle gives off.
Boston Dynamics says the reason for the hybrid design is the simplicity it affords: rather than needing the complex joints of the fully-quadrupedal bots, Handle’s wheels can speed it around with little difficulty, while its front legs can be used for balance and for carrying loads of up to 50kg.
“Handle uses many of the same dynamics, balance and mobile manipulation principles found in the quadruped and biped robots we build,” Boston Dynamics said, “but with only about 10 actuated joints, it is significantly less complex. Wheels are efficient on flat surfaces while legs can go almost anywhere: by combining wheels and legs, Handle can have the best of both worlds.” The video does not, however, show Handle walking rather that scooting around on its wheels.

I don’t boot my laptop very often, but it’s a Mac so it wouldn’t be comparable anyway.
I did a quick search and you’re not alone. One guy wrote this:
Personally I’d uninstall it and activate Microsoft Security Essentials (aka windows defender) and Malwarebytes Antimalware.
I had Malwarebytes on my machine but removed it. I didn’t see that it did anything for me. It might matter on Windows.
You could also see if there are any settings for Avira that will change how it scans on boot.
I already mailed the card to my DiL. I had to because once the mail hits the AR state line, it goes by mule train to the differing cities.
I now have to write the letter to my grandson that I couldn’t print out. Knowing that, I didn’t write it. So I’ll have much more to tell him. I usually print out two copies and send one to my son, so he knows what I’m doing. I usually add a separate note to his because I don’t want to tell my grandson anything depressing. It’s hard to believe he will be 20 in December. :oO

I got mixed up at Walgreen’s and used the wrong card, which only had less than $10 on it, and the card reader said: Balance due:$XX.XX. Oh, no! I used the wrong card! It was a good thing, though because I got more at Wally’s than I had planned to. Food. Other stuff to eat. Yep. That.
The DVD for my prayer group had a crack in it, so we jumped over Judges and Saul straight to King David. I’ll get in touch with the publisher and see if we can get a replacement disk.
For my next thing, I need to go to Walmart. Several children say they’re going, too. Sigh. But not Tom, because he has to take Elen to school.
I’m sorry about the DVD. I know you look forward to those prayer group meetings. I enjoyed going with you when I was there.
I didn’t realize when I went to Wally’s this morning that I was nearly out of eggs, and needed another bag of salad meat. *sigh*
When I was out with Charlie, it actually was quite chilly (to me) and since the wind came up, I was just too cold to stay there. Orrin came and he always has way too much cologne on for my sensitive nose. I begged off, saying I was too cold to wait any longer.
I’m still only about a third of the way through “Journey To Zion.” I get slowed down by the entries that are long and hard to read for lack of punctuation. But that doesn’t make them boring, by any stretch! I first thought, “How many ways can you say ‘we had troubles on the way and then we died’ before you get to the point where you can’t read any more?” but now, it’s like I see things from many different perspectives.
Yes, some of them are very hard to read. One old guy I’m sure was dyslexic! The one I started today said she was 17 and fresh over from England when she married and started west from Winter Quarters, NE. Very adventurous girl!
We had our meeting, which was nice. We’re just out of sequence on our Bible study now.
I think all the women had to have some type of adventurous spirit to even agree to go West in a covered wagon pulled by oxen or even the milk cows or horses. I’m not sure that love would have made them put as much effort into the hardships. But they went and they seemed to have made the best of it, no matter what!
One of my nieces from Ogden, UT is coming through here tomorrow, and asked if she could stop and see me. OF COURSE YOU CAN!!!! LOL! What a surprise! She is the mother of that sweet little Molly who passed away almost two years ago of Leukemia.
They will be here long after my bed time, but I will attempt to be civilized, anyway. She played the pipes at her grandmother’s graveside services four years ago. And she has that twisted sense of humor that runs in my family... ;o]
That will be nice for you, even if it’s a schedule change. Maybe you can have a nap!
I borrowed a book from the church library this morning about a woman, Catherine Spalding, who started a religious order dedicated to girls’ education in Kentucky in the early 19th century. She was only 19 when she opened her first school!
See if it is set to do a full scan every time it starts. If so, turn that off and schedule it for a more convenient time.
Or follow ArGee's advise - ditch it and use Windoze Defender. (It actually has gotten some decent reviews.)

I uninstalled Avira. That in itself was a job, as there were five components, which may explain why it took so long to boot up.
This morning it booted in less than seven minutes. :o])
As I was downloading Windoze Defender, I inadvertently downloaded Goober Crime. I couldn’t uninstall that fast enough!
That little pink nu-nu (nose) makes that cute little face all the more plaintive. Are those blue eyes?
The only thing I know for sure is that Lablady and I are going to breakfast Sunday. Or not. She may just come over and spend time. But whatever. It will be OK.
My niece wanted a photo of my parents, and I couldn’t find the one I was looking for. I emailed my brother in CO to see if he had it, but I haven’t heard from him. So I’m going to see what I have on my slave.
I’m not going to kill myself over this visit, because it isn’t worth it.

Today I have to get the last of the Cub Scout day camp paperwork together so I can turn it in to the director tonight. I’d really like it if my treasurer would call or email, because she needs to write a check!
I just spent half an hour hunting for a photo of my parents, and found two that I really had to tweak the printer to get. In order to get their faces, I had to use “Plain Paper” setting. The printer didn’t want to do that because it recognized the paper as semi-gloss photo paper.
While I was trying to organize some papers, (birth, death and marriage certificates) I realized I need hanging file folders and I don’t have any. *sigh* If it ain’t one darn thing...
This is important because it has to go with the binder that has my Will, Codicil and P of A. I want everything in one spot so no one has to sort through a bunch of banker’s boxes to find the things that are necessary.
I had my steroid, but I’ve been up three hours and need something else. This may not be a good day.

My treasurer is out of town, so I'm seeking alternatives. The easiest will be if the District will accept a personal check from me, and then the Pack can pay me back when Julia gets back from wherever she's at.
Several family members will be going away for the weekend, which will be restful. However, I need to sort out choir for the first two Sundays in June, because Tom and Elen have finally coughed up the dates they need to be at their jobs.
Or in other words, Unnngh.
In one way or another, I have been busy since I got up at almost 0300. I still have things to do before this place is ready for company, but at least some of the clutter is behind closet doors!
I was looking for some documents, and decided to send to SLC to see if they had them, and if so, could I get a copy. I found Igor’s death certificate and he was my age when he died. I think I’m going to live a while longer...
Filing, that’s what I need to do. Then dishes, then vacuum and then a breathing treatment. And at around 0915, I’ll go outside and sit with Charlie. It’s supposed to be 87 today. (eh?)
