The US, OTOH, experimented with firebombing bat and BF Skinner-trained pigeon controlled anti-ship bombs.

The Ruskies trained their dogs by feeding them under their diesel fueled tanks. But the Germans were gasoline fueled, so the dogs sometimes ran back to the Russian line. Hilarity ensued.

Yep The Russians or Soviets if you prefer did try a dog antitank system. The down side was the Soviets used diesel in their tanks and they trained the dogs using their own tanks. The Germans used conventional petrol for the most part. When the dogs were unleashed in the confusion of battle they defaulted back to their training and followed their nose's back to the smell of diesel. Ooops!. The program was shut down for reevaluation.
