Not always. We're used to flooding and getting things up and out, but last August it came up so fast we had to leave everything behind.

I know and have seen that "look" on everyone here after August's flood. It's very sad.

I fully understand. In this case though, I knew flooding was highly possible and I live on the East Coast. It just seems the wise thing to do is to get your seriously irreplaceable stuff, like family photo’s out to a friends house who live up the hill.

You have my sympathies about having to leave everything behind. It must be heartbreaking.

But in this particular case, losing the irreplaceable was unnecessary.
