Peru's president tells Trump he prefers 'bridges to walls'

The first Latin American president to visit Donald Trump at the White House told the U.S. leader Friday he prefers “bridges to walls,” sending him a gentle rebuke of his controversial proposal to build a wall along the border with Mexico.

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, a U.S.-educated former Wall Street banker, has emerged as an unlikely leader in Latin America, taking a strong stand against Trump’s “America First” agenda while many in the region remain silent.

Kuczynski, 78, characterized his meeting with Trump as “cordial and constructive” and said he told Trump he was interested in the free movement of people — “legally,” he emphasized — and also spoke about trade and economic development.

Kuczynski harshly criticized Trump during the U.S. presidential campaign, joking he would cut diplomatic relations with the U.S. “with a saw” if Trump followed through on his pledge to build a wall with Mexico, which he compared to the Berlin Wall. On Friday, he made a point of saying “we prefer bridges to walls.” …

I like bridges too. They make excellent checkpoints to guard against criminals from entering your territory and facilitate commerce for law abiding people. I hope Trump puts some toll bridges on the border wall. That should help finance the maintenance of the wall.

No problem, and you don’t need bridges el Presidente!

Just open up your ports on the Pacific Ocean, and we can send millions from California, Oregone and Washington.

Please install one way turnstills which only allow your newly welcomed immigrants to enter and not come back on the ship.

List of your ports below:

Moronic pablum.

The two are not exclusive of each other. There are places where bridges are needed and places where walls are needed.

I bet this idiot’s compound has some hefty wall or fence surrounding it with plenty of guards.

Maybe in spanish “sharp-tipped iron fence” means “bridge”. The guy is 87 and will likely die soon...so what does he care about anything? Also, his doesn’t sound very “chilean” so he probably is an illegal alien invader from europe. What a putz.

Here's the thing Kuczynski -- we don't need Peru's approval or her trade.

I have relatives who vowed to move to Canada if Trump won. I'm still waiting for them to keep their promise. I'm still waiting -- LOL!!

I’m all for bridges too. How about a bridge to Canada. That would be fine.

Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski says he prefers bridges?

Wonderful!
Help us build bridges to transport illegal alien Peruvians in the U.S. straight back to Peru.
Put your sanctimonious efforts where your mouth is!

Every little bit helps!
I sincerely hope that we are not sending foreign aid of any kind to Peru! And, if we are, stop forthwith.

Any other similar countries have a similar whine?
Speak right up.
Rinse and repeat.
