“This notion that there are plenty of Americans who are willing to take these jobs if only they were paid enough is a myth. Many of these jobs pay $60,000 to $100,000 a year and companies cant find any applicants that can pass the background checks and drug tests that they require. Our country lacks willing workers, but our cup overflows with young Americans who cant pass a drug test or a criminal background check.”
I think it’s likely true to some extent that Americans won’t do many of these jobs, precisely because of our massive welfare state. My theory is that when food stamps are actually scaled back and able bodied people start getting hungry, we may be surprised at how many Americans might be willing to do these jobs.
“.....when food stamps are actually scaled back and able bodied people start getting hungry, we may be surprised at how many Americans...............”
(Let me finish your statement)......Turn to stealing, robbing and just plain breaking the law. I’d bet this is more likely to occur than actually taking a job. What are the odds?
