Not sure if thats true.
There is documentation that it is true. Arafat was an Egyptian I think and 27K of his followers were killed when he was kicked out of Jourdan.
This reminds me of something I was reading the other day where they said Arizona was a renamed piece of Mexico, implying, presumably, that that war and treaty were illegitimate. I guess you could make the case either way, but if the Mexicans win that round, then by the same logic they lose the round about when they “stole” it from whatever indigenous Indians were there at the time. And what about when THOSE guys took from some other Indians, and on and on and on.... Either military conquest and associated treaties are valid in principle or they are not. You can’t just say the very last one was invalid somehow but all the others were OK.
Roman Emperor Hadrian renamed the province Palestine after previous emperors endured a century of those pain-in-the-ass jews.
The name was chosen to insult the jews by renaming their home after their ancient enemies the Philistines.
Pastor J.D. Farag who was born Lebanese says he went to bed one night a Lebanese and woke up the next morning a Palestinian.
Pfake Pfalestinian bump
Yes, they left Israel on purpose thanks to the advice of their Imams, which is how they became refugees after they lost the war. Their Arab brothers and neighbors refuse to take them in because that would solve the crisis and leave them without a reason to keep trying to steal Israel’s land.
There is no Palestinian blood.
No genetic marker for Palestinian.
No Palestinian art.
No Palestinian artifacts
No where is there to be found architectural digs, sites of so called Palestinians.
There is no Palestinian language.
Lastly, there is no Palestinian history.
Anyone supporting “Palestinians “ is using hate speech and supporting the ultimate hate crime of Jewish annihilation.
That some real stone cold antisemitism, Steiner...
There is not now nor has there ever been a country called Palestine.
There is a region here, encompassing one of the towns, that is historically known as Jackass Flats.
Palestine is much like that. Area name, never a country. I used to live in The Area Formerly Known as Jackass Flats... :)
Is it just a coincidence that the words Palestine and Philistine are so similar?
-—There is not now nor has there ever been a country called Palestine.——
Well perhaps or perhaps not
From Wikipedia....
“British civil administration in Palestine operated from 1920 until 1948. During its existence the territory was known simply as Palestine, but, in later years, a variety of other names and descriptors have been used, including Mandatory or Mandate Palestine, the British Mandate of Palestine and British Palestine.”
bkmk
I’m down with renaming “palistians” to philistinians.
As noted, Romans called the area Palestine after the Philistines from ancient times. Those Philistines were not related to anyone around the area now.
When Arab Muslims conquered the area from the Byzantines, they didn’t have a particular name for the area, so they just used the Roman/Byzantine term.
The Hebrew word for Philistine is Peleshet with a hard ‘p’ like Roman Palistina. Arabic doesn’t really have that sound so in Arabic it is ‘Falastin’ (’ph’ sound).
Christians ended Arab rule in 1099 and Arabs never ruled the area again. Turks took over from Christians and kept it until being on the losing side in WWI.
Until Israeli independence, Palestinian (the word by itself) meant the local Jews. For Arabs in the area, they were called Palestinian Arabs with the extra descriptor.
There is an area of the United States called Dixie.
There is an area of the world called Palestine. Many entities have ruled Palestine and Palestine has had several names starting with "The Promised Land".
Palestinians are people who occupy Palestine.
To know the history of Palestine is to know the history of the world.
Because: Palestoids sounds like an intestinal disorder.
Palesteiners sounds too "German".
Palenese sounds to Asian.
"Filthy murdering squatter riff-raff" was properly descriptive, but rejected for some reason.
Egyptian/Jordanian Wetbacks should be considered, to de-stigmatize and reclaim the word "Palestine".
Yes, there is an area of land that many years ago was called ‘Palestine’ because it needed a name.
There are no ‘Palestinians’.
Philistines is the rightful name of the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians.
Yes! This, 1000%. There are no ‘Palestinians’.
It’s all make believe to pretend that their gripe against Israel has to do with real estate. The truth is, Israel could carve itself down to one square block and the ‘Palestinians’ would still be trying to kill them all.
