Why would President Trump post this as a tweet instead of discussing it directly with Comey or firing him in favor of someone who will do the job? I would expect the CiC to command in this situation.
Good question. I don’t think he’s referring to a latest leak but the cumulative aspect. My own personal theory is that Trump tweets about what is weighing on his mind and that it doesn’t necessarily follow a certain incident.
He’s being educated about the deep state and what it’s doing and as he digests that information, internalizes it, and cogitates on it he’s getting really pissed off.

Should be easy to find who accessed that phone call w/the russian diplomat. They would also know who was assigned to listen to that call if it was monitored live.
Verbal stuff in the oval office would obviously have no such audit trail.
Yes it is. There’s a coup underway in the federal bureaucracy all the while there are blue states damn near in a state of insurrection.
This is what Bannon was referring to yesterday at CPAC when he said they won’t give up without a fight while Trump tackles deconstructing the administrative state.
I think he’s referring to a story I heard briefly on the local NBC affiliate this morning.
They said that (I believe) Reince Priebus asked the FBI to come forward and help refute the NYT story about the Trump campaign having ties with Russia.
MAGA, it’s what is on his mind when he goes to sleep at night and the first thing he thinks about upon wakening.

Because Trump knows that his base of support is the American people. He's stated that his Twitter feed will be used for transparency and he's providing it. He's not going to allow himself to get bogged down in closed door discussions with the FBI Director about Counter-Intelligence matters (which this is).
This is about creating a climate of fear in the federal bureaucracy to ensure it bends to the President's will. The people leaking turned this into a public spectacle so Trump is responding in kind.
Otherwise, he turns into Nixon and starts employing plumbers again and we don't want to go there.
Very interesting. Thanks for the link. I dunno how true it is (it is yahoo and anonymous reports after all) but the fight between Trump and the deep state is being waged in the public, so I can understand wanting the FBI to clear up misconceptions in the public. Doesn’t look all that good, but we are where we are. It’s only going to get worse.

I suspect that he already has, and that the wheels are already turning. This is aimed at drawing attention to the problem so that people will see it resolved. And the media will whine as their spigot of information is weeded out.
