Starbucks' brand has taken a beating since the company announced plans to hire 10,000 refugees worldwide in the next five years in response to Donald Trump's executive order intended to prevent refugees from entering the US.

The coffee giant's consumer perception levels have fallen by two-thirds since late January, according to YouGov BrandIndex.

A glass of milk and a sugar-filled, fried, high-cholesterol glazed doughnut at home. THAT’S my response to Starwhatchies 10,000 foreigners.

Thought their latest TV commercial - bragging about how much ‘good’ they’ve done, including hiring some ‘large’ number of veterans - was a knee-jerk reaction to all the negative press they’ve been getting.

Too little, too late for my taste. (Just like their, bitter, burnt-tasting, heartburn-inducing coffee products.)

> I think of them about the same way as I think of Ben & Jerry’s.

We completely stopped buying their ice cream when we figured that we could buy a whole quart of Blue Bell's for the same it cost us for a pint of B & J's....

Yep, all the more reason to buy your coffee from someone who pledged to hire 10,000 veterans (now sold out on Amazon, thanks to FreeRepublic!)

Franchise applications are available, for any veteran that's interested in joining the team!

Noticed a machine in our Kroger grocery store that accepts unused credit cards and gives you cash back except for a small service charge. Would think that might be something in your area like that. At least you would get something for it.

There are no Kroger by us but that’s actually a great concept.

I wonder what they do with the turned in cards?

I would love to see Starbucks go the way of Blockbuster.

At least Blockbuster provided a worthwhile function while it was needed.

I don’t understand why anyone buys Starbucks or any other similar retail brewed coffee. I brew my coffee at home and put it in a Stanley thermos if I want to take some for the road. I spend about $15.00 per month for about 300 cups of coffee.

if you don't intend to use (the card), give it to someone entering a Starbucks

Be selective. Give that gift card to the shabbiest looking person you can find. Starbucks will be SO HAPPY to have the opportunity to serve such a person!

Haven’t a clue. There are some website locations that you can sell your card to: Cardpool.com and coinstar.com among them. Might want to check out those and others. Having cash in your pocket versus a piece of plastic is a lot better. Think on coinstar you can put in your ZIP code and see where you can exchange it.

Had a client give me $100 card for Nordstram’s. Exchanged it for $95 cash.

I used to love Starbucks until they starting pulling their liberal patronizing attitude.

Won’t ever buy a cup of their coffee again.
I’ll gladly drink my Bustelo, La Llave, or Pilon.

A drive-time host in Boston once sent his interns out with some $5 bills, and some $10 food coupons.

They were to find bums, call the station, and put the bum on, and have the bum call the host "Cap'n" or the like for a choice of the $5 cash, or the $10 worth of food.

Unsurprisingly, there were no takers for the non-distilled/unfermented food coupons.

Music to my ears.

I was sad I could not boycott Starbucks, since I dont frequent Starbucks. I am glad somebody is trouncing them over putting foreigners ahead of US citizens.

I’ve done something like that. There was a worse-for-wear person pleading for money for food outside a Subway. I went inside and purchased a $5 food coupon for him. He argued with me about my generous contribution.

Perceptions are imaginary. The thing that should matter to Starbucks is their bottom line. they will no more forever find any of my money in that bottom line.

It is way past time to teach businesses that can't keep liberal politics our of their business a lesson that they can understand.

Exile Starbucks and support your locally owned coffee shop.
