California has created a travel ban of its own, which prohibits its own public university students from traveling to anti-LGBT states.
The law that went into effect Jan. 1 prohibits state-funded travel to states that are not LGBT-friendly, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
The law prevents students of the University of California and California State University from traveling to four states outlined by California attorney general Xavier Becerra, including Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee.
The California State University intends to follow this new state law, a university spokesperson tells The Daily Caller.
Inclusivity and diversity are fundamental values of the California State University. California State University wants students to participate in opportunities that support and further their academic success and the university will follow the law. CSU will encourage students to seek opportunities in states where travel is not prohibited, California State University told TheDC.

Dangerously close to violating the Constitution. Only Congress has the authority to regulate interstate commerce.
I’m sure the 9th circuit court will be intervening against this obviously unconstitutional act any day now.
I have no respect for the LGBTQWERTY movement.
So the same state that wants free flow over international borders is clamping down on interstate borders?
Must be Tuesday in Liberalland.
That is it folks! We have a winner! You win the internet today with that.
“Just how does California plan to enforce that? Will each student have a Minder who follows them about?”
I assume it means school sponsored travel. For example the debate team couldn’t go to one of these “evil” states for a competition.
Might be a problem with football.
So then, UCLA and Cal State will simply forfeit games scheduled to be played in what they consider "Anti-LGBT" locations?
The gay left learned nothing from the Orlando massacre.
So I guess UCLA will have to forfeit their football game at Memphis on September 16th, since they can’t travel there.
How in God’s name is this crap legal? Nobody can tell anyone where they can travel in this country.
The state is government by the inmates of a booby hatch.
The ban is on “state-funded travel.” It doesn’t affect students who pay for their own travel anyplace.

Uh-oh.
Cal Bears scheduled to play N. Carolina on Sept 2 in Chapel Hill.
I’m thinking this ban only affects university-funded travel, like sports teams, debate teams and academic conferences.
Good. Didn’t particularly want them here, anyway.
NCAA’s “March Madness” has venues in Greensboro, NC and Memphis, TN. So if Cal or Cal State are seeded and slated to play in those venues, they won’t be allowed to by their state law?

UCLA Bruins are schedule to play in Memphis on Sept. 16.
Ruh-roh, Shaggy.
California is broke financially and morally.
Please do NOT fix California....too many broken pieces.
Remember the CalPERS cow has mastitis.
The article said if the game was scheduled prior to the ban, they can honor the commitment. It’s a way to weasel out so they don’t lose sports money. The University of Minnesota had a similar ban with schools who had Indian nicknames, however they could still play North Dakota in hockey because they had an exemption if a team was in their conference. Since many out-of-conference games are scheduled years in advance, they’re safe.
Ah-ha.
The article does say thus:
UCLAs football team is scheduled to play Memphis in September and Cal State Long Beach baseball will play North Carolina in March. After these visits, the universities will no longer be able to play games in these states.
Cop out, liberals.
