LAWRENCEBURG – Between 700 and 800 protestors greeted U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday as he spoke at a luncheon hosted by the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce in Lawrenceburg.
Democratic Party of Kentucky Communications Director Daniel Lowry said the protestors came from across the state to send McConnell a message.
“They don’t appreciate the things that he has done such as vote against workers, voting against the minimum wage hike, and he has shut down Senator Warren,” Lowry said. “That made a lot of folks upset.”
Jennifer Lawless of Louisville came to voice her concern to McConnell over President Trump’s plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

I don’t often side with the turtle but in this case I’ll make an exception.

These people evidently don’t understand that the states have never expressly amended the Constitution to give the feds the specific powers to regulate, tax and spend for these issues.
"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added].” —Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. So although I question if Sen. McConnell really respects the fed’s constitutionally limited powers, note that the Founding States established the federal Senate in part to stop the feds from interfering with these state power issues which McConnell seems to be doing imo.
