101 goes up the Oregon Coast and not through Grants Pass. I-5 goes through Grants Pass—it was something else before it was I-5, but it was never 101. I grew up about five miles off of 101 in Southern Oregon, and had family in Grants Pass and Medford.

...it was something else before it was I-5...It was US 99. California, Oregon and Washington retired the US 99 designation in 1965 when I-5 was laid over much of it.

Which one went to Cave Junction, Ore? That’s where my aunt lived. First and last time I ever made that drive - 1965.
