Of significance this is just downstream from the confluence with the Tuolumne river which is the Don Pedro dam source.

On the San Joaquin river. Which is about 5 inches below flood stage and running 250,000- 300,000 CFS.

Prayers up for all those affected. Stay safe. Turn around, don’t drown. But definitely evacuate. Don’t make the Coast Guard come and get you!

Thanks. I have friends there, trying to reach them now on FB. Be hard to evacuate with two horses, four dogs and unknown amount of barn cats.

That was a pretty cold comment, Tom.
I was 10 years old when I was flooded out of my house,
and I still vividly remember it 55 years later.
There ain’t a damn thing funny about it.

He is quoting Moonbeam Brown, who ironically enough was pilloried in a book written ages ago about the exact same sort of dam "failures" we are seeing today.

He was just quoting what our compassionate governor Jerry “Moonbeam” “Moron” “Choo-Choo” Brown said about our flood risk problems last weekend.

Over 17 inches of rain in 51 days...in Sacramento.

Most of the Sierra foothills are over 40 inches.

Well Don Pedro is FULL! Take a look:

From the graph, it looks as though they are releasing, but I guess they have no option not to.

We’re getting pummeled with rain here in California but after years of drought, it’s a welcome sight. My prayers go out to those who’ve been affected by this.

Especially when stuff to keep stuff from happening isn’t maintained.

And in CaliPorno, bridges, dams, and stormdrains crumble, while the concept of proper firebreaks as forgotten as the use of slide rules.

Haven’t lived there in decades. Had to go back on business in 2013 and nothing had changed.

Some say they are shooting high energy weather modification beams through the Chico area thereby keeping the worst away from the Oroville area.

I drove by there on Highway 99 on the way up and back to the Sacramento airport today. It was pouring in Stockton both ways. Water levels in the Stockton-Manteca area had visibly increased on the return trip, including the Tuolumne River in Modesto.
