De Blasio Threatens Wells Fargo Over Dakota Access Pipeline
The Daily Caller ^ | February 19, 2017 | By Kerry Picket

Posted on 02/19/2017 10:54:51 PM PST by Brad from Tennessee

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio threatened Wells Fargo bank for its investment in the North Dakota Access Pipeline.

In a February 17 letter to Wells Fargo CEO Timothy Sloan, de Blasio said he wanted to “express my deep concern about your involvement, and the involvement of other banks, in financing the Dakota Access Pipeline,” noting his concern is partly based on being a Mayor of a “coastal city threatened by climate change.”

De Blasio claimed the pipeline would violate “human and tribal rights of the Standing Rock Indian Reservation” and would have “negative environmental consequences” to the land and water of the area.

“As someone with a leadership role in funds that are long-term investors in shares of your bank, I am profoundly troubled by the risks you are taking by involving your institution in this controversial project,” the liberal mayor of New York wrote. “Beyond the potential direct financial costs to the bank if Energy Transfer Partners is unable to repay the financing you have provided for the pipeline, I am apprehensive about the risks to your reputation. . .”

Hey Blas,

Don’t build near the ocean if you are afraid of water.

It seems that De Blasio thinks that being mayor of NYC is the same as being God LOL! I think that De Blasio is writing checks that his city cannot cash.

I can’t understand why Wells Fargo can’t sue de Blasio for interfering with a legitimate business effort. A recall election would be ideal.

DiBlasio: “...I am apprehensive about the risks to your reputation.”

So surreal it must be Fake News.

DeBlasio is so epically bad on so many levels that it is breathtaking.

As a, no, the global banking center, the last thing NYC needs is a mayor threatening on specific deals because of a wacko liberal sensibility.

Somebody tell the Marxist Mayor that he runs only New York City, so he has no say about a pipeline that is not in his city.

De Blasio insinuates that the Dakota Pipeline is a risky investment for Wells Fargo. What might be riskier is municipal bonds issued under Mayor Big Bird.

The pipeline is NOT on tribal lands and will cross the river miles above their lands, as many other pipelines have already done.

This asshat mayor is just one of thousands in the country but is so arrogant to believe he can tell financial institutions how they should operate.

WF should not even respond to his letter and should just tell the media they have no comment.

What does the mayor of New York care about Dakota?

None of his business. This is all grandstanding and is actually a religious declaration for the Global Warming Marxist cult.

I didn’t realize NYC extended that far west of the Mississippi.

Maybe I need a new Geography book.

“I can’t understand why Wells Fargo can’t sue de Blasio for interfering with a legitimate business effort. A recall election would be ideal.”

If the people of New York City want to remove De Blasio, they can do so.

If the City of New York wants to divest from Wells Fargo, they can do so.

Maybe those “Tribal Lands” should be taken off the national grid and be made to fend for themselves. They can go back to living off the land.

HOW, in the slightest bit, is it the business of Mayor DeDumDum whether Wells Fargo invests in the Dakota pipeline or not? It does not run through the bit of territory where he, for the time being, is the ruling authority. As a matter of fact, it's on the other side of the country! I guess his brain, rotted from within from Communism and libtard agendas, can't let go of the junk science of "climate change" and he is trying to grasp at straws at exerting some influence over Wells Fargo and whether it chooses to invest in the pipeline.

I think it is very likely illegal for him to do anything punitive to a bank which happens to operate some branches in NYC on the basis of their investing in a project that HE, the science expert, deems harmful to a non-existent condition.

Like his hero, Odungo, everything this moron has touched has turned to excrement. This is just his latest sad example of why he is utterly incompetent to hold any public office

DeBlasio is a crazy communist and this is what crazy reds do, interfere in everything, say stupid things, and get elected to political offices.

Herr Kaiser Wilhelm is a perfect example of how far left the Teachers Unions are in NY City. The reds had a lot of teachers in them back in the late 40’s/early 50’s before some got purged for refusing to tell congressional or state committees whether they were Communist Party members or not.

In either the late 80’s or 90’s the craven city council apologized to these reds. Perhaps it was in the early 2000’s but the city has been batcrap crazy for years.
