On Friday the U.S. Ambassador to Somalia, Stephen Schwartz, presented a gift to the new President of Somalia, a hat that reads “Make Somalia Great Again.”
Ambassador Schwartz was appointed by former President Barack Obama and was sworn into his position in June 2016 according to the International Business Times.
Reactions to this gesture on twitter were overwhelmingly negative because let’s face it: Somalia has never been great.

Dumb ambassador trying to make Trump look bad I am assuming.
I guess now that Somalia is “great again”, all of the Sammy “refugees” in Michigan can go home again.
It would be fine without the “again.”
Wish other presidents were interested in making their countries great rather than complaining the Trump is.

Having to go to Somalia should be punishment enough.
I suspect this was a way of Trump showing some well intended respect for the leader of the nation, a bit lighthearted as well.
I don’t think this guy waltzed in and did this on his own.
I choose to see this as a positive from a group that normally is trying to sabotage trump....what is wrong with the slogan make Somalia great again....getting up set at that is like the group “black lives mater “ getting up set because anther group says “all lives mater” or “blue lives mater”
The sooner Somalia gets calmed down and under control, the quicker their refugees in the USA can take their asses home.

Making Somalia better is a pretty low bar to pass.
It is possible this is TRex’s work OTOH. Trumpinator may have a hand in this. It is like when he violated the one china policy. Well, look what happened..... N Korea’s export of coal, their aorta has been clamped off by china and back to status quo ante. N Korea is flying here to negotiate. Trump is playing 200+d chess (Number of nations) and IMHO he is crushing it. There are few people in the world that can recognize his moves... even some of them.
I am the smartest MF’er I know, but I go... Wow I didn’t think of that every day this man is POTUS. I see some of his moves and they are truly brilliant. Others I am obtuse to. They will play out and I will again say... why did I not think of that.
He’s a career Foreign Service officer not a political appointee. Not many campaign contributors would be interested in being ambassador to Somalia so left to the career types.
Like much else in Somalia, the idea was pirated.

I have recently been working with a Government Employee that is desperately trying to do the right thing, but is being stymied at every point.
It’s in our strategic interest for all countries to become great (whether again or not). The fewer hellholes around the world, the fewer refugees.
