Revised travel ban targets same seven countries, exempts green card holders

WASHINGTON – A draft of President Donald Trump's revised immigration ban targets the same seven countries listed in his original executive order and exempts travelers who already have a visa to travel to the U.S., even if they haven't used it yet.

A senior administration official said the order, which Trump revised after federal courts held up his original immigration and refugee ban, will target only those same seven Muslim-majority countries -- Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan and Libya.

The official said that green-card holders and dual citizens of the U.S. and any of those countries are exempt. The new draft also no longer directs authorities to single out -- and reject -- Syrian refugees when processing new visa applications. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the order before it's made public. The official noted that the draft is subject to change ahead of its signing, which Trump said could come sometime this week.

Asked about the revised order, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the document circulating was a draft and that a final version should be released soon. The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

They’ll go to Judge Robart to block it.

I can’t wait.

“The official said that green-card holders and dual citizens of the U.S. and any of those countries are exempt.”

Well, if they are green card holders or dual citizens, they might not be as dangerous.

Maybe.

IFf true....
not gunna fly with the AG’s who filed suit.
aint gunna fly with judge Robart and probably not the 3 judge 9th.

Green Card is not a travel document, it’s a residency document.

Left will be out protesting again causing damage.

It is urgent to close our borders to Iraqi and Syrian Refugees/immigrants.

The losing side (ISIS members and supporters) will be the ones fleeing this year. They can not stay in their homes - the neighbors they abused will hunt them down and kill them.

Best to leave them to their fate, rather than have them regroup in our country.

They (the courts) will magically block it the nanosecond it’s released, since the ACLU et al has had time to prepare for this one via the leaks ...

And if that happens Trump will assert his Presidential powers and ignore the judge’s ruling.

Credit should be given to Jay Sekulow for his thorough analysis of how to make the EO bulletproof and get the USSC ruling overwhelmingly in favor of the EO.

Jay carefully pointed out that the original EO did not specify circumstances for Green Card holders as those circumstances had been described in a related Directive. Jay proposed issuing a new EO that incorporated the contents of the related Directive and let Washington State refile their complaint against the new EO.

The importance of the new EO is that there is no argument that can be upheld against it. Therefore, the Supreme Court will rule in the President’s favor.

For those that think the Supreme Court will ‘find’ a way to overrule the President’s EO, see the podcast or Fox News interview with Jay Sekulow. Unless the Supreme Court would write to confer US constitutional rights on all the peoples of the world, there is nothing in the new EO that can be argued or twisted. The only sticking point of the previous EO was the plight of the Green Card holders not addressed in the first EO even though an associated Directive addressed it. Putting everything inside one document in a new EO prevents leftist judges from ignoring a related Directive while they go about shooting holes in their targeted EO.

It’s like an improbable traffic cop asking for a driver’s license, then writing a driver and impounding the driver’s careup because no proof of insurance was observed, even though it was never asked for.

Jay’s superb analysis teaches a simple lesson, that deceptive judges, lawyers, and pols will selectively attack one component of a policy that is separate while ignoring all components that make the entirety of the policy. The lesson solution is to put all the related policy components into one document so that no one can say it wasn’t viewable. It shouldn’t have to be that way, but then there shouldn’t be persons who play games in court.

That's how the original EO should have been written. They should have taken a little more time to get it right and make the order bullet-proof against legal challenges, instead of hurrying something through which gave the liberals a media-hyped win.

Oh man. If only I ran a store selling poster board.

That said, another leak again. This one is said to be within the administration. Unless Trump okayed this, he has an in house mole.

So the “lone woofs” with green cards can go back to these countries to be trained by ISIS to kill Americans without having to go through a screening when they come back? Snowflakes aren’t our friends.

Trial balloon, to fish out the a posteriori arguments ... Looking for iron-clad language ... they could pre-load with language to ensure certiorari, but Gorsuch won't be empaneled until SCOTUS fall 2017 session, so it's meant to be appealed to a friendly District Court this time ... wink wink nudge nudge...

All true, but you watch, this is still not going to be good enough for the globalists in Washington state and MN. They will still try to find some judge to overturn this EO as well. They have already claimed “due process” rights extend to foreigners who have no connection to the US. And they will still call it a “Muslim ban”, despite the fact that it was never a Muslim ban in the first place.
