Lawmaker introduces bill requiring men to get written permission from wives to purchase Viagra

FRANKFORT, KY (WCMH) — A Kentucky lawmaker has introduced a bill that would require men seeking treatment for erectile dysfunction to jump through several hoops beforehand.

Rep. Mary Lou Marzian (D-Louisville) introduced House Bill 369 on Feb. 12.

The bill would require that a man visit a doctor twice before the doctor can prescribe any drug for erectile dysfunction, be married and get a signed and dated letter of consent from his spouse. The bill also calls for the man to “make a sworn statement with his hand on a bible that he will only use a prescription for a drug for erectile dysfunction when having sexual relations with his current spouse.”

The bill’s requirements would apply to medications like Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and Avanafil as well as other treatments and procedures for erectile dysfunction.

I guess I need to be here 24/7 instead of just 12/7, cause I sure haven’t seen anything about it, and a search came up blank

This would be a HIPAA violation, unless the man agrees. If a man is coerced to agree, then HIPAA should be eliminated as being meaningless.

Stupid liberal games.

How in heck can the drug store tell if the note is from his wife ..??????

Get real .. the girlfriend(s) can easily write the note, and just sign the wife’s name.

This is a stupid idea.

Sorry I wasn't clearer - I didn't mean this particular bill but all the identical bills that have been introduced in other jurisdictions.

Shouldn’t there be a law against women who cause erectile dysfunction?

It never ceases to amaze me that with all the real problems facing this coutry our elected representatives instead chose to waste their time, that we pay for, to come up with lame brain stuff like this that is no business of the government.

UN-possible. Besides, isn’t that discriminating against men who are not married? I didn’t think Libs believed in keeping marriage vows anyway. With his hand on the Bible, and his other hand where, exactly? Suddenly, they are so virtuous and believe in the significance of our Bible? Right.
You just knew it had to be a woman to write such a proposal!
I say that will all due respect to my Sister Free-Reps.

F*ck off! What I do with my body is NONE of a politician’s damned business!

Oh wait - she’s a Democrat who would be opposed to a law requiring a woman to get permission from her husband/boyfriend for an abortion.

But this man-hating feminazi beyotch has the balls to tell us men we need a woman’s permission to take Viagra.

Go figure.

The poison pill, erecting such falic legislatin, would screw a lot of men, leaving them flaccid prior to their insertion into the body non-politic, women and (not) children first.

My bad.

Thought you meant this had been posted before.

To the idiot libs who see this as a moral equivalent to abortion laws, “If stupidity lasts more than 4 years, PLEASE seek professional help”

No, it is the equivalent of mandating clitorectomies for women unless they are married and have the permission of their husbands to enjoy sex.
