Far-right leader Geert Wilders calls Moroccan migrants ‘scum’

Mr Wilders called his campaign “historic” and, in an echo of Donald Trump's successful US election campaign, asked his voters to “make the Netherlands ours again”. He reiterated a controversial statement on Moroccan immigrants to the Netherlands, calling them “Moroccan scum” – a subtle variation on the “fewer, fewer Moroccans” chant that saw him convicted of inciting discrimination late last year.

“Once again not all are scum but there is a lot of Moroccan scum in Holland who makes the streets unsafe, mostly young people,” he said. “If you want to regain your country, if you want to make the Netherlands for the people of the Netherlands, your own home again, then you can only vote for one party.”

The Netherlands already has legalized book banning; he’s against banning books and for freer speech than the Netherlands currently allows...but if the Netherlands is to be consistent then it should apply its laws to all books, etc.

I have the impression that in a political context "far right" is used much more often too. Looking at an ngram of usage of the two terms in published books, though, the difference isn't as much as I'd expected -- Ngram. (Maybe in news, as opposed to published books, though, the difference is greater. Other indications too show that the mainstream media are more hostile toward the right.)

"Far" is not as negative a term as "extreme". Comparing "extreme right" and "extreme left" makes the bias clearer -- Ngram. Note how the difference has become more evident since the 70s.

Wilders is just brave enough to state publicly what many Dutch in increasing numbers quietly have come to believe. I would not be surprised if Wilders sweeps in the election
