Norma McCorvey, the anonymous plaintiff in Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion in the United States, reshaping the nation’s social and political landscapes and inflaming one of the most divisive controversies of the past half-century, died on Saturday in Katy, Tex. She was 69.

Ms. McCorvey died of heart failure in an assisted-living home, said Joshua Prager, a New York journalist who has written about her for Vanity Fair and is working on a book about the Roe v. Wade decision.

Didn’t she say at a later date that she regretted that whole lawsuit?

Yes.

She matured and became pro-life.

But it was too late for 60 million babies.

And millions more to come.

She herself did not abort her baby and I think she said she felt “used” by the abortion lobby.

excerpt:

Decades later, McCorvey underwent a conversion, becoming an evangelical Christian and joining the anti-abortion movement. A short time later, she underwent another religious conversion and became a Roman Catholic.

“I’m 100 percent pro-life. I don’t believe in abortion even in an extreme situation. If the woman is impregnated by a rapist, it’s still a child. You’re not to act as your own God,” she told The Associated Press in 1998.

I read both her books. The one from when she was pro choice and the other when she became pro life and was an evangelical Christian.

She suffered much, was used by Sarah Weddington, and Linda Coffee, treated poorly by other so called feminists, it was heartbreaking. Gloria Alred was the only one to really give her respect and even she was only doing it to advance the abortion agenda.

You all really have no idea how dark this world is. She knew but she found out too late.

Typical and changed her mind? She perguried herself in her case. Lying for the liberal case.

She was used by Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee.

In fact you want to know WHY her baby was born and not aborted? (some states had legal abortion and Weddington herself had one done in Mexico) Because at the time this case was heard she had to be pregnant or else all them could be tried for perjury. The case took so long to be heard that her pregnancy took too long to be aborted and came to term. How about that? She gave birth to a girl who is very much pro life today.

I got to know Norma around the time that she became a Christian. I was in the Dallas chapter of Operation Rescue. Rev. Flip Benham performed her baptism and a bunch of us showed up for it. She was very sincere in her conversion and she was very sad about her role in the legalization of abortion in our country.

I also worked for Phyllis Schlafly's Republican National Coalition for Life. In 1996, I was responsible for a pro-life petition that was to be sent to Congress, since it was a presidential election year. I saw Norma and asked if she would like to sign the petition and she said, "Yes, by all means." As soon as I got home the petition was faxed to Phyllis and it made her day.

If I recall correctly, she was very young and was taken advantage of by the Abortion lobby. She also became a drug user and alcoholic over the whole thing. Fortunately, she was redeemed by the blood of Christ.
