Such an arrangement under our Constitution is foolish and unnecessary, since the interests of the branches and their separate powers, and -- at least in Madison's mind -- far more importantly, the States themselves, are intended to check the natural tendency to overreach by ambitious men.

Since the "shadow cabinet" members work for no one but themselves, have no authority, and no responsibility, they would be nothing more than a semi-officially recognized babble of talking heads; they would contend with each other as often as the government, and they would contribute nothing when unified that the opposition doesn't already provide.

We already have that.
