let’s go back a tad farther too, how about Noriega. In fact, Bush I, tried to have the indictment squashed against Noriega. Now, whom might I ask was in charge of the CIA around that time? Eh, Bush!

My guess is the free lance drug dealers were being prosecuted and hounded by the DEA and other agencies but shipments under the protection of CIA were allowed to go through. Just a guess but nothing would surprise me given the amount of money involved.

The same thing happened with the slave trade in the 16-17th centuries and the opium trade from China: officially condemned; but the powerful used both to finance their own interests. (Ever wonder where the Delano fortune came from — as in Franklin Delano Roosevelt?)

We now have (or have again) a pretorian guard which will hem in our presidents and restrict their freedom of action.

Not a good thing...

Actually Manuel Noriega went on Television claiming he had DOCUMENTED EVIDENCE of George Bush Sr and the CIA being Directly Involved in the Drug Trade, we Invaded Panama the VERY NEXT DAY and Noriega has not been heard from ever since and never will be. When his sentence was up we transferred him to another country to spend the rest of his life in prison in another country.
