She had asked him if he was going to get the CBC involved in his plans to help inner city people (blacks). Probably a very counter productive thing to do. I don’t see the CBC helping to solve anything in the inner cities. They were around when they had a half black president in the WH, and what did they do except fuel more misery and hatred. What good are they?
I have a transcript of the future summit with the CBC:
“We want you to throw money at the inner cities with no expectation of accountability.”
Trump: “WRONG!”
The people who think Trump is racist to ask the black reporter to expedite a meeting are ridiculous. Oh no, she doesn’t want the responsibility, she just wanted to ask her “gotcha” question.
Do these sad little people at CNN really think that readers of their tripe are not able to access the video directly and see the context and tone of the conversation?
The SPIN the media puts on these stories, well, it is laughable they’re still attempting to make it work.
REPORTER: When you say the inner cities, are you gonna include the CBC, Mr. President, in your conversations with your urban agenda, your
THE PRESIDENT: Include who?
REPORTER: Are you gonna included the Congressional Black Caucus and
THE PRESIDENT: Well, I would. I tell you what, do you want to set up the meeting? Are they friends of yours?
REPORTER: No, Im just a reporter.
THE PRESIDENT: Lets set up a meeting. I would love to meet with the black caucus. I think its great, the Congressional Black Caucus. I think its great. I actually thought I had a meeting with Congressman Cummings, and he was all excited, and then he said, Oh, I cant move, it might be bad for me politically, I cant have that meeting. I was all set to have that meeting. You know, we called him and called him, and he was all set, I spoke to him on the phone. Very nice guy.
REPORTER: I hear he wanted that meeting with you as well.
THE PRESIDENT: He wanted it, but we called, called, called, called, they cant make a meeting with him. Every day I walk in I said, I would like to meet with him, because I do want to solve the problem. But he probably was told by Schumer or somebody like that, some other lightweight, he was probably told
THE PRESIDENT: dont meet with Trump, its bad politics, and thats part of the problem in this country. Okay, one more. Go ahead.
Well, the only good I could see would be that having met with them, Trump’s plans might be seen as more legitimate.
They could also double-cross him.
He has big plans for the inner cities. The CBC can climb on board or be left in the dust.
They will probably double cross him, being democrats. They’re not going to let Trump get credit for fixing the problems in their districts.
They conveniently left off the part where Trump said he had a meeting setup with Elijah Cummings, who later cancelled, for whatever reason.
Lying Fake News....
Which will work out best for us in the long run.
Let them go on the record opposing everything Trump is trying to do to help. Then Trump moves forward and does those things, and Black neighborhoods are vastly improved.
What will they look like then?
Why they’ll be so discredited they’ll be forever laughed at when they try to act like they represent Blacks, and always want to do what is best for them.
Trump wins either way IMO.
Blacks are waking up.
Lying Fake News....
It’s like they don’t believe we are watching the same thing.
They want to change context and create a whole separate reality.
The Congressional Black Caucus will never work with Trump. If he managed to turn inner city Chicago into the safest, most luxurious place on earth and its current black residents the most prosperous people anywhere, the CBC would just say he only did it because he hates black culture and wanted to destroy it.
Yes, but many families in those cities would give him credit.
It would be more than was done for them in the last 50 years.
Agreed!
I recognized it was April Ryan and hoped Mr. Trump would be cautious. He complemented her on the professional style of her question, but immediately spoke to the political reality.
He basically said - I want to meet with people that want to meet with me, not complain that we aren't talking.
That presser should go a long way - Trump plays HardBall - Big League!
He welcomed hard stories, if they were true and accurately presented. That was a Huge Door for the press. Stop being snarky! Stop using your liberal filter! You have all been asked to be Journalists. Step Up! and do your job. Something that Laura Ingraham said at the Convention.
The President communicated so much in that short exchange with April Ryan -
1) Mr. Trump is actively pursuing an effort to meet with minority members of Congress.
2) Those that he has spoken with have felt it to be a political risk to meet with POTUS.
3) Cummings does not want to be part of the solution, Instead he loves his little soapbox where he asserts his huge sense of entitlement.
4) If you don't want to be part of the solution, then you are part of the problem and Mr. Trump intends to fix that.
5) You should be asking the CBC the same question.
I think April Ryan will approach her questions to the President a little differently. He just asked her to step up. I think he likes her and wants her to succeed.
