Fugitive director Roman Polanski will reportedly attempt to have his decades-long child rape case resolved so that he may return to the United States without fear of arrest or incarceration.
According to TMZ, the 83-year-old directors attorney, Harland Braun, has asked a Los Angeles judge to review what it reports is a long-secret transcript of the prosecutors testimony during Polanskis trial.
The attorney claims the transcript proves that the Pianist director had agreed to a plea deal to serve just 48 days in jail, and that the judge had agreed to the deal. Polanski was convicted of raping a child after a photo shoot in Los Angeles in 1977 and spent 42 days in prison before being released.
But the director later fled the country for Europe when he feared that the judge in his case backed out of the deal and suggested prosecutors give him 50 years in prison.
According to TMZ, Polanskis victim has asked the judge to close the case without giving the director any more jail time. . .

Only allow this creep to return if he spends 20 years in prison, immediately donates his assets to charity for children and if he (in 20 years) rows a canoe across the north Atlantic solo in winter to get here.
Though Polanski is popular with celebrities, the public—even in France—still want to see him in a U.S. prison. From Wikipedia:
On 26 September 2009, Polanski was arrested while in Switzerland at the request of United States authorities.[19] The arrest brought renewed attention to the case and stirred controversy, particularly in the United States and Europe.[122] Polanski was defended by many prominent individuals, including Hollywood celebrities and European artists and politicians, who called for his release.[130] American public opinion was reported to run against him, however,[131][132] and polls in France and Poland showed that strong majorities favored his extradition to the United States.[133][134]

“that doesnt mean that you have license to impact a childs life negatively. Consensual or not, what he did was wrong. He should have faced the music.”
I agree completely. Still, what they did to Tate was ghastly, and surely would take a heavy toll.
as I recall he does this for every new president.
You’ve got a wife about seven month’s pregnant and she and her/your unborn child are literally butchered for no reason whatsoever. To start a race-war?
I agree with your take on the shock and aftermath for Polanski. I’m sorry that happened to his life. Nobody should ever have to have something like that happen to their family.
For that I have genuine sympathy for the guy.
“For that I have genuine sympathy for the guy.”
I do too! It’s a bit confusing. But he needs to go to trial.
I agree with that. We are all multi-faceted. Sometimes in certain departments of our overall life, we screw up. At the same time, there are other departments that we shine in.
I do take a dim view of crimes that impact children negatively, even in their early teens. Adults should find something else to focus on, other than obtaining self-gratification through abuse of young girls like that.
He blew it. Part of being an adult is facing being called on your errors, that you know you committed.
He knows he blew it. Face it like a man and move on.
Maybe when my pregnant wife is butchered by a group of sick crazies at the behest of a madman it will give me enough of an excuse to drug and rape 13 year old little girls.
</sarcasm>
I wish that woman’s parents had been disemboweled, and then Polanski got anally raped by a well-endowed rapist once for every year since 1977. And every year while the victim still lives.
Its a bit confusing. But he needs to go to trial.

He does not to “go to trial”, he’s already been tried and convicted. He fled the country to avoid serving his time.
