Trump got the biggest upset win in histroy in the United States. He had no chance, thus he got the biggest win. They can twist and turn everything on its head, but 306 in 85 more than projected at best!
Bush had Reagan to help him out, and Bush ran against a lousy candidate. In 4 years daddy Bush screwed what Reagan did in 8 years.
Trump did get the largest Republican Electoral Collage margin win since Reagan.
Folks, Reagan held office until January 20th, 1989.
The Bush election was held in November 1988.
It is also true that Bush won the most electoral votes since Reagan’s last election.
It is also true that Bush couldn’t have won his election by anything close to the margin he did in November of 1988, if it hadn’t been for him riding in on Reagan’s coat-tails.
Let’s recall what took place in 1992. Bush couldn’t beat a known adulterer who was suspected of many crimes in Arkansas. That was Bush trying to beat an opponent on his own. It just didn’t fly, even against the likes of Clinton.

'We the people' are NOT perfect, but our founders said we are government, and 'we the people' do NOT view Trump as perfection. What Trump likely was told about his his ELECTORAL win was that it was the largest by a REPUBLICAN going back to 1988.

“I had the biggest ELECTORAL victory for a Republican in nearly 30 years. That is what I was told.”
In terms of consequence it was the biggest win since Reagan, maybe bigger.
But that was still wrong. George HW Bush got 122 more Electoral votes than Trump.
It's unfortunate he does stuff like this. Why? Has no one ever sat down with him and walked through the EC totals for the last 10 elections? One would expect after running for POTUS you would be pretty familiar with this stuff, even given that you have experts who do vote counting.
