Le Pen is on course to be France's next president, fund manager says from AI analysis

Marine Le Pen is on course to be the next president of France, according to one fund manager's big-data analysis.

Arun Kant, chief executive and chief investment officer at Singapore-based investing firm Leonie Hill Capital, told CNBC he expected the right-wing populist to prevail thanks to his firm's proprietary artificial intelligence (AI) system's analysis of troves of data.

His analysis — which he said incorporates inputs such as social and traditional media discussions, polling, economics and demographics — predicts that Le Pen will "walk over" her opponents in the first electoral test and then prove most forecasters wrong and steal the lead in the second ballot, Kant said.

The French vote is split into two phases, with the top two candidates from the April 23 round due to face each other in a second run-off on May 7. In the running alongside 48-year old Le Pen are former economy minister and independent candidate Emmanuel Macron, conservative ex-prime minister Francois Fillon and socialist Benoit Hamon.

While I'm no expert on French politics I think this might be right. There is a world-wide wave going on.

The test will come in the second round. The French left and center-right have proven that they can and will hold their noses and vote as a unified bloc to prevent a “far right” candidate from winning.

Doesn’t LePen dislike us?

First question that occurred to me is who did this fellow’s firm predict to win last November’s US election? I know time’s passed and the systems and situations are very different, but if he was calling for a Trump victory I’d probably take his methodology more seriously.

I dunno. Set aside immigration and she sounds a lot like Bernie Sanders.

"Set aside immigration and she sounds a lot like Bernie Sanders."

a lot like Bernie Sanders politically, a lot like Jill Stein environmentally, and a lot like Hillary Clinton clanically (the party she inherits from her father is a family business, with her "companion" being the vice-president).

No doubt her economic policies are left wing, but the fact is that she is against the Globalist agenda is what matters.

She praises Trump all the time, but she’s definitely not a fiscal conservative - in that regard she’s not much different than the socialists. She, like Trump is a strong proponent of nationhood and self determination, thus wants to get out of the EU, end migration and promote the French culture and language.

Unfortunately, I’m afraid that she will do great in the first round, but lose in the second like her father did, as right, left, and center all unite against her. I hope I’m wrong. Even if Fillon wins, though, he would still be a step in the right direction over socialist Hollande.

She’s a nationalist. She doesn’t like the American government interfering too much in French affairs, and she doesn’t want her country overly dependent on the U.S. That doesn’t mean she dislikes us personally. I’d say she seems to like Trump supporters. She supported Trump during our election and has a similar outlook as his on the issues of immigration, Islamic terrorism, and the sovereign nation-state.

I have been watching several of her speeches and interviews on YouTube. She is unflappable. I legitimately love this woman.

I hope she does and if she does it is going to rock Europe
as much as Brexit. Meanwhile Merkel is trying to change the
laws so their “guests” can vote.
