Russia 'deploys cruise missile in violation of landmark arms control treaty with US'

Russia has covertly deployed a new, fully operational cruise missile in an apparent violation of an arms control treaty, US officials have claimed.

Barack Obama wrote to President Vladimir Putin after Russia tested the missile in 2014, contending that the test violated the landmark 1897 accord that banned the US and Soviet Union from using intermediate and shorter-range missiles and helped bring the Cold War to a close.

The Russians appear to have disregarded the warning, and the missile has now been deployed according to the New York Times.

Administration officials told the newspaper that Russia has one battalion of the missile at a test site in Southeastern Russia, while a second has been moved to an operational base.

Donald Trump will now be tasked with responding to Russia's decision to deploy the prohibited missile. . .

I didn’t know there was a Soviet Union in 1897; I am pretty sure neither we, nor the soviets had cruise missiles back then.

Got news for them if the treaty bans cruise missiles. We have used quite a few of them.I do not think the left would have passed up a chance to bash either Bush, Clinton would have got a pass. So what type of missile are we actually talking about?

Maybe not that big of a problem. The plan in the 1980’s was to deploy GLCMs on trailers in the UK and in tunnels in Sicily. I wonder how many GLCMs we can hide in the Carpathian Mountains? Lots of old mines up there.

Man the media wants WWIII. What the heck is that all about?

It was long ago and far away but here on FR it was delightful. The Russians raided Soros' Open Society offices in Moscow, found child porn on the computers, and threw them all out of Russia.

soros kicked out of Russia

"F. William Engdahl: “George Soros, the hedge fund speculator turned self-proclaimed philanthropist, and his tax-exempt foundations, are an integral part of that pre-emptive war machine."

Thanks. I appreciate the mention of those things.

Soros in not a real popular guy with a number of nations.

I’d like to see his assets frozen, his family indicted.

Soros is the forerunner to the antichrist. Supporting euthanasia of children with very treatable leukemia in a NY study is how I came to know his author. He is anti-life, anti-Christian, and anti-capitalism.

He also funds Ukraine and is tied to McCain.
