Six Patriots ... will not partake in the tradition.
[Snip]
In the past, most players avoided controversy by saying their decision was based on other factors, such as a scheduling conflict or family commitments.
But with Trump in the White House, that tone seems to be changing. And now that the door to openly challenge the White House is open, more athletes could follow suit, just as some did when Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers took a knee during the national anthem to protest police brutality.
If declined White House visits become more common, it would be a problem for the leagues, the teams, and the White House.

Bet you can't guess who else isn't going to the White House ...
So instead of it being a way to honor athletes, it’s a political endorsement to go?
An insult or slam to not go?
This is a path to banning the traditional altogether for the various teams who should feel HONORED to be invited to the White House in the first place.
A few idiots spoiling it for everyone.
Maybe I’m alone on this one, but I think it is a tradition we don’t need and won’t miss.
No wonder the NFL is losing ratings. Screw these idiots.
No Fun League.
stop WH invitations.
end of issue.
Is it really that great a tradition? I always thought it was kind of stupid, especially the way it’s grown in the modern era with basically every sports champion in the country getting the visit. When women’s NCAA volleyball is on the invite list it’s not that special anymore.
Is this how you felt when Obama was President and a few athletes decided not to go?
Kraft and Trump are friendly; you don't show up the guy who signs your checks...
Umm....it DID happen during the Obama Presidency.

The press didn’t cover that.
I suppose it depends on numbers. If more than 5 didn’t go, I’d say pull the plug.
One a**hole was enough for me to not watch NFL this past year. Their ratings were down 9% overall. One idiot.
But for the WH visits, I’d say more than five politically motivated and it might be time to pull the events entirely.
But why would she? She’s not a Patriot.
Yes, they did cover it. I remember reading about several incidents where it happened.
People are free to do what they like. Those that do not attend will neither be missed and if the past is a guide will not be playing for the Patriots much longer
.
The NFL is dying before our eyes.
Are any of the players being threatened by leftists or businesses with whom the players have endorcement contracts?
