Yep, there are all sorts of really rotten smells: paper mills, oil refineries and rendering plants. I once asked folks who lived in a town with a paper mill how they could stand the stench. — “What stench?” I suppose you can get used to anything, especially on Beautiful Buffalo Bayou. :o)

Yep ! I lived near an abattoir one,many years ago.

Had an aunt & uncle who lived in Wood River, IL - Refinery Capitol of the Midwest.
After a couple days you'd kinda get used to it, but when first arriving for a visit one's sinuses were *immediately* cleared .. lol
