Anyway, if you are going to reproduce a car of the past, why not do something that could do things like "stop" and "turn" while still looking heartbreakingly beautiful?

Jags are beautiful. I have a different Type than the one you have pictured.

But Trump's import tax will hurt Jaguar/Land Rover the most.

If you did that, it wouldn’t be a 1967 GTO. I’ve driven a 1968 GTO that someone did an LSx swap in and installed modern brakes with a Hotchkiss suspension. Yeah, sure, it improved some with all the modern tech - but the car was still pretty bad by modern standards. In fact, the modern powertrain pretty much overwhelmed the chassis.

I would also remind you that several attempts have been made to ‘bring back’ older musclecar (and other) designs in modern incarnations and most failed to sell.

60s musclecars look a lot more alike than the ‘classic’ Gen X and Y cars do. So much so that in video games there’s often a generic muscle car and nobody can agree what it looks most like whereas the later offerings it’s pretty clear what the ‘generic’ vehicle is most modeled after.

I think the idea is to retro the 67 GTO like the Challenger was redesigned. Nobody wants a drum braked push rod V8 engined car with a carburetor and points.. But a 67 GTO with all new modern internals, that’s cool.

This is a must. The Rats think you can suspend the laws of physics. My wife worked for one of the big three and the horror stories she told of the unbelievable amount of resource that were devoted to CAFE requirements.
It adds thousands of dollars to the price of a car. If something isn’t done we will be shoved into golf carts and l am not exaggerating. Especially the final ones Obummer threw at the car companies on the way out.

Considering my daily driver does 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and tops out over 155mph while costing less than $10K...

Is the pictured XKE your daily driver?

You are on drugs. I have never heard anyone ever say that 60’s cars looked alike. They are all easy to distinguish from one another. Most are works of design art.

JLR pissed off the core Jag owners years ago and makes nothing most of them want any more. Don’t care.

And it won’t matter anyway if Trump gets the trade deal he’s proposed with a post-Brexit UK.

Go look at the Grand Theft Auto forums for long raging debates about which late 60s/early 70s car the generic muscle cars look most like.

It would be like the Challenger. The retro Challenger is awesome. Even the retro Camaro is awesome. If they would just lower the belt line on the Camaro it would be perfect.

I wonder how many of today’s cars would be considered classics and collectibles 50 years from now.......

We refer to them as cars for people who don't understand physics.

I've often said that humans can occasionally get away with violating the laws of men, but never the laws of physics.

Come on? Those are CGI cars. How old are you, 18? Tell me can you tell a '68 Firebird from a 1968 Mustang? Do these cars look alike at all? LOL

I think 1968 was the best year for cars, these are just 2 of my favs.

The first retro new Challenger actually wasn’t very good. It took until the second-gen LX-based version of the car for it to not suck. The first gen retro Camaro had similar problems. It weighed like a moon and drove only slightly better than said celestial body.

Can’t lower the belt line due to side impact laws. Also, still wouldn’t help the crap visibility the current car has.

JLR pissed off the core Jag owners years ago and makes nothing most of them want any more.

You speak for core Jag owners?

Ask them about reliability and performance. Drive an F-Type and compare performance to an E-Type.

Since adults don't play video games, and the children that create them would not know a Pontiac GTO from an Olds 442.

Enjoy The Leaf.
