After 40 years of living in the Los Angeles area, I moved out of CA in 2015. I miss it a lot, but realize I can never go back to live there again. Between the extremely high cost of living and what the far left has done to the state, it's become a sewer.
That's the concern for my wife and I. We're born and raised Californians for around 60 years (+/-) about to start retirement in the middle of 2017. We had seriously considered living near the coast after retirement (San Luis Obispo/Central Coast area), as we love the ocean area.
But with our daughter out-of-state, we're trying to decide if we love it *that much*. And when you hear about all of the infrastructure problems in California (issues with dams, water storage, really bad roads, etc.) and the wasted resources on illegals in the state, we have to wonder how much of our retirement will be affected, along with our retirement savings and planning.
