Every year, the American Bible Society and Barna Group rank 100 of the nations most Bible-minded citiesthat is, how many people read the Bible at least once a week and who strongly believe the Bible is accurate. And every year, cities from the Bible BeltChattanooga or Birmingham or Knoxvillecome in first, while cities from the coastsSan Francisco or Boston or Albanycome in last.
Its all fairly predictable, except for one city: Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Cedar Rapids, the second-largest city in Iowa, has ranked in the bottom five for the past four years, and its percentage of Bible readers and believers keeps going downfrom 17 percent in 2014 to 15 percent in 2015 to 13 percent in 2016. Barna measures by media market, so Cedar Rapidss numbers include nearby Waterloo, Dubuque, and Iowa City.
You can’t include Iowa City in any statistic about Cedar Rapids. It’s like including witches in a statistic about Christians.
Practice...
In the group of red headed people; some are witches and some are Christian: that's how!
“I’m just chillin’...in Cedar Rapids.”
Yesterday's Gospel was odd: Mark 8: 14-21 about the leavened bread. Jesus said: Do you still not understand?
Well, I didn't understand either. I was RIGHT there with the confused Apostles.
Lol. GREAT pic.
Yes.
I often wonder if Rome existed JUST for that very special time when they ruled "the world" and Jesus was born.
There could NOT have been a better vehicle for spreading Christianity. The Romans took their Christian faith everywhere.
