They were starting to draw criticism for planning a huge victory celebration before the victory. I think they were concerned that their base would take it for granted that Hillary had won and fail to turn out and vote.
Trump planned a celebration as well. The only candidate that I remember in recent years who probably had no celebration party is McCain, basically because he lost intentionally.
