I think Andrew “Dice” Clay is hilarious for his outrageous irreverence to anything and anyone.

Both Dice and Sam Kinnison were funny coming out of the gate, but petered out fast IMO. Comics have the same problem a lot of musicians have in that you have your whole life to write your first album, but then only a year to write your next one. This goes for comedy acts to, which is why so many originally funny comics die out eventually.

I got to see Red Skelton live, and Hal Holbrook do Mark Twain (technically Twain would be humor, not comedy). It’s all downhill from thers.

I like to watch Foster Brooks on Youtube - the guy does great drunk routines especially the pilot one - my fav. He brought the table down when doing a roast for Don Rickles.

Tremendous. Two funniest clips ever are Tim Conway’s elephant improv on Carol Burnett and Traci Ullman’s show w Steve Martin as the choreographer:
“Barbecue tongs, barbecue tongs, shoot the moon followed by a banana.”

I got to see Henny Youngman in the ‘80s before he died. The only joke I remember was when he previewed an upcoming episode of the then popular show “That’s Incredible!”, featuring a Puerto Rican with auto insurance.

That’s why Eddie Murphy and Steve Martin were smart and moved onto movies. Their standup stuff was great, but they pretty much milked it for all it was worth.

But for stand-ups, nobody could touch Pryor in his prime, he was a great storyteller. And his routine on visiting the Arizona State Penitentiary, being all naive and upset about all the black men in the joint, then coming out and saying, “Thank God We Got Penitentiaries!”

The only way liberals know when to laugh is when they hear the conservative being insulted.

Liberals have no sense of humor because the liberal culture and mindset is fundamentally mean. Think about that: “Fundamentally mean”.

Some liberals are allowed to make soft jokes about liberals as long as there is a “wink, wink, nudge, nudge” and the rest of the performance makes up for it by insulting conservatives in the meanest, most unfunny ways possible.

There was a great “South Park” episode that depicted Whoopie Goldberg onstage. She would say “Republicans are stupid” (Howls of laughter), “I hate Republicans” (Huge applause).

The liberal mind cannot grasp humor.

The Rasta Gourmet.

IMHO, Friday's blew away Saturday Night Live back then, they even had much better musical guests as well.

> And then there’s Benny Hill. Good luck finding Benny Hill reruns on TV today, though.

I remember seeing those as a teenager. Never watched it for the comedy though...: )

>>Good comedy just about died a couple decades ago.<<

Comedians, even the lefties, no longer go to colleges since the snowflakes are so easily triggered that any reference outside their PC world causes convulsions and the like: http://www.thewrap.com/comedians-avoiding-campus-when-did-universities-lose-their-sense-of-humor/

Watch just one of Dean Martin’s roasts if you want to see true comedic talent.

Comedy today, like films and popular music, is as dead as a hammer.
