A Kenyan girl was denied entry into the United States a day after courts barred President Donald Trump from deporting immigrants.
Ednah Chepkoton, 25, was held at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport for many hours after getting off a United Airlines flight on February 4.
She had been given a five-year multiple entry visa by the US embassy in Nairobi on January 20.
Ednah, a Kabianga university nursing graduate, narrated her harrowing experience to the Star from the airport, after an immigration officer singled her out of thousands of passengers who were on transit.
"We landed at around 9.30 am but when I was clearing with customs an immigration officer called me aside and started questioning me," she said.

Why should it be difficult to get a visitor's visa? Or a visa to study in college? Or a visa to come to the U.S. to transact business? It's up to us to crack down on people who overstay their visa. But it should not be made unnecessarily to visit a foreign country.

I, like most of us, figured on a picture of some 8 or 9 year old girl in pigtails and bows being held by armed guard...like Elian Gonzalez with the muzzle in his face and a fully equipped ‘Storm Trooper’ holding him at bay in a closet.
My how times have changed...
We went from terrorizing a young lad and forcing him back to Cuba to ‘be with his family’ while we have been going to Central America and bringing ONLY teenagers back (reportedly some 25 year old teenagers at that).

As Kenya was not on the list, to start this article is fake news. As medical student, a multi entry visa would be proper, so to yank it with no explanation would be unusual to say the least. So my guess is this entire article is bovine feces.

I’m noticing on these police arrests website of people that have been booked that I’m now seeing “Hold for Immigration” again accompanying mugshots. Looks like at least Sheriffs are doing their part since meeting with Trump. Hopefully, ICE will do what they’re supposed to do...uphold the law.
And at 25, she’s hardly a girl. The headline is to paint a picture of a 4-year-old, holding a teddybear, and being arrested by jackbooted thugs.

sphinx is pointing out this is standard. It’s a standard tourist or business visa. There is a limit to how long they can stay, not sure exactly. Six months maybe.
Most countries have this mutual relationship for five year visas. Other countries we don’t even need a visa, Canada for example.
Visa restriction, thus, is sometimes done for countries of problem and that is where the seven restricted visa countries come in, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen..
That restricted list of course came from the Obama admin DHS.
Kenya is not on the restricted list and her detainment would gave nothing to do with the “travel ban”.
Something must have flagged her as not bring an actual tourist or business traveller.

Reading between the lines I think ICE determined this girl was coming to the US to work. She did not have a work visa.
How is this possible? Kenya isn’t one of the countries effected?
Because many individual ICE agents are goons who couldn’t hack it at a police department or the FBI and enjoy making people’s lives difficult.
They hassle American citizens and legal immigrants at the border routinely and there’s no real way to hold them accountable.
It would be nice of Trump improved personnel quality but he’d need to fire a bunch of the existing ones first and that’s not feasible.
