Trump didn’t allow for the fact that it will be built by the government. $21 billion will at least double.

If it’s at all possible, this project should be started WITHOUT any fanfare. I guess it’s not possible to keep it secret, but I’d sure try to do as much as possible so that nobody knows when or where it is being worked on. And be prepared to keep protesters FAR away from the actual site.

https://fas.org/sgp/crs/homesec/R43320.pdfDHS

“Waiver Authority
In general, federal agencies are required to review the potential impact of proposed projects on
natural and cultural resources prior to committing resources to a project.18 These environmental
and other review requirements may delay the construction of certain border infrastructure; but
existing law grants DHS broad authority to waive legal requirements that might delay
construction of border barriers.19
Senate-passed S. 744 would grant the DHS Secretary authority to waive any law, as the Secretary
deems necessary, to ensure expeditious construction of barriers, roads, and other infrastructure to
secure the southern border. This provision potentially applies to a broader range of border
infrastructure projects than the waiver authority in current law, but only applies to projects along
the southern border.20 The waiver authority would terminate upon certification by DHS that the
bill’s border fencing and border security strategies have been substantially implemented (see
“Border Security Strategies and Metrics”). Both House-passed H.R. 5230 and H.R. 2278, as
ordered to be reported by the House Judiciary Committee, would also exempt application of
specific laws (previously waived by the Secretary of DHS in 2008 with respect to certain border
construction projects) to CBP border construction projects on all federal lands under DOI and
USDA jurisdiction within 100 miles of U.S. international land borders.21”

So the `rats can squeak until they’re hoarse.

Yes, and the unwashed who don't have a clue what illegals are costing this country on an annual basis will be screaming bloody murder.

With the savings we’d get in welfare, housing, medical, education and criminal activities, we should be able to pay back the taxpayers for this wall in six or seven months.

Correct on the $113 billion. HOWEVER - you aren’t taking into account the drastic increase in price on Avocados.

Actually - I went through the math on that awhile ago. If you increased the ENTIRE average food budget for all Americans by 10% it would be about equal to $113 Billion. So it would be a wash.

Well, except without all of the illegals doing murders, crimes, rapes and taking away jobs from Americans.

Cheap. Compared to the damage this nation is taking, it’s a bargain.

$21.6 billion, more than three years to construct,

Hehe.

Under budget, and ahead of schedule.

Anyone want to bet?

Yeah, we all know Trumps reputation will hold true.

And here we were, believing MO was getting too big for her shorts. We need to focus on much larger targets - judges getting far too big for their robes. With prejudice judicial we have no republic, no nation. You are correct, Lord help us. CLEAN HOUSE. I pray that our President has a plan up his sleeve and is forcing the hand of our enemies.

See p. 22 `Border Security’ and the map showing federal ownership of borderland.

If you will look at the Texas border, The Only Federal land on the map(pg24) is Big Bend National Park.

A lot of private land owners have a stake in this. And a lot of land owners were burned during the last building of the wall.

The remaining land owners are a lot more educated as to their rights.

I just hope that these land owners are treated reasonably in the building of the wall.

Far cheaper than the cost illegal immigration from Mexico imposes on us. Build the thing already - and get legislation passed to make sure it is manned and monitored, or the next time a Democrat takes office the whole thing will come down.

I want to see destination RV resorts along the Wall. Planted trees, landscaping, the works. There could be tourist shops, restaurants, a golf course or 2, guided nature walks, maybe even a couple of Casino’s.....and alligators in a moat.

“I wonder how much of the cost is for the purchasing of all the private land”?

They report:
“The report accounted for the time and cost of acquiring private land, one reason for its steep price increase compared to estimates from Trump and members of Congress.”

Which sounds like they are getting real about doing this.

They also reported that funding is expected by April, with actual construction beginning in September.

Three Phases:

Phase One “would be the smallest, targeting sections covering 26 miles (42 km) near San Diego, California; El Paso, Texas; and in Texas’s Rio Grande Valley.”

Phase Two “would cover 151 miles (242 km) of border in and around the Rio Grande Valley; Laredo, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; El Paso, Texas and Big Bend, Texas.”

Phase Three “would cover an unspecified 1,080 miles..., essentially sealing off the entire U.S.-Mexico border.” (if you include 654 miles that already has some kind of barrier.)
