A Grand Prairie woman who was found guilty on two counts of illegal voting has been sentenced to eight years in prison along with a $5,000 fine on Thursday.
Rosa Maria Ortega was arrested in 2015. She is a legal U.S. resident, but is not a citizen and therefore, not qualified to vote.
*snip*
Prosecutors say Ortega applied to vote in Tarrant County and acknowledged on the application form that she was not a citizen. The county rejected her application and notified her she was not qualified to vote.
But five months later, she applied again and this time claimed she was a citizen, they said.

Texas has open primaries. You do not register for one party or the other. If you are registered to vote, you show up and vote in whichever primary you want.
The only exception is if there is a runoff primary. You cannot vote in one party’s primary and then vote in the other party’s runoff primary in the same election.
What will kill the Democrat Party is if the Blacks in this country ever figure out how they are being exploited and destroyed by the Democrat party.
With out the 95% Black vote provided for the Democrats in every election the Democrat Party would evaporate like dry ice on a summer day.
Furthermore, purge voter rolls of the dead, multiple state voters, and illegal invaders.
And make vote fraud come with severe penalties, including the forfeit of all entitlement benefits for life. No TANF. No EBT. No SSDI. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. You committed vote fraud treason? Fine. Now live with the consequences.
Beautiful, just friggin’ beautiful.
Times 22 million?
...so will she file suit against Zero? he told her it was ‘okay to vote’.
For sure they should be deported.
Now imagine blacks deserting AND the wetbacks deported !
a guy can hope
LMAO.
I hope she’s going to do that time in Mexico so we don’t have to pay for her in this country
If you don't have your voter registration card with you, they look you up to confirm you are registered in the precinct and then you can vote without it. Then you don't even have a stamp on your card.
Thankfully, Texas does require a valid picture ID. It cuts down on the dead Democrat voters.
Probably more like THIRTY MILLION. :-(

isnt this a felony???
she is suppose to be deported for this...
what happens when she gets out of jail ??
The tip of a massive iceberg. Lock up enough to scare the others.
8 years in prison for voter fraud is way excessive. I am not saying she should not be punished. She should. The $5K fine is a substantial punishment. Add in Probation for 8 years where she must demonstrate she will not repeat the offense. Plus, a felony conviction record. And, if she is illegal, then she will now be deported to a country she has not lived in for decades. That would be appropriate punishment. Putting in her a jail cell for this crime?
It is longer than what many get for white collar theft crimes. And that involves stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars. There are tax cheats that spent less time in prison than this sentence. Michael Milken spent less time in prison.
Let’s have some perspective.
Well, we know that President Trump won’t be inviting her to the white house for a cerveza summit.
I’d prefer she is deported tomorrow rather than waste additional resources housing her for 8 years in prison.
“On two counts, it oughta be two consecutive life terms for her.”.
They’re waiting for her to complete the first sentence then charge her for more. I doubt the gubmint will ever get the $5000. I’d rather see her permanently deported.
If it were up to me, actions have consequences, and anyone convicted of voter fraud would be executed. Selective law enforcement and weak legal responses do nothing to uphold the rule of law.
It's time we take our country back.
Voter what? THAT doesn’t exist I’m told by liberal media.
