Jeff Sessions Confirmed as Attorney General, Capping Bitter Battle

Senator Jeff Sessions was confirmed on Wednesday as President Trump’s attorney general, capping a bitter and racially charged nomination battle that crested with the procedural silencing of a leading Democrat, Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Mr. Sessions, an Alabama Republican, survived a near-party-line vote, 52 to 47, in the latest sign of the extreme partisanship at play as Mr. Trump strains to install his cabinet. No Republicans broke ranks in their support of a colleague who will become the nation’s top law enforcement official after two decades in the Senate.

The vote largely followed party lines, with just one Democrat senator - Joe Manchin of West Virginia - voting for Mr Sessions.

...Let them throw their tantrums, because in the end we will prevail. Let the immigration EO make it’s way thru the court system because in the end, we will prevail. And in the end, the Democrats will fail.

Ignore the progs and full-speed ahead. When the multiple successes start to pile up, and they will, Trump will position himself and Republican conservatives to spank the progs again n 2020. All depends on Republicans sticking together.

AG Sessions has a huge mess left by the former AG to clean up.

Great move, he will make an excellent AG. With all we are finding in our corrupt government, I’m concerned that four years won’t be long enough to put every crook behind bars.

I do not think that CAIR has been designated a terrorist group yet. I would like to see it though. Arrested and exiled to Syria.

If Joe Manchin wants to stay a US Senator, he needs to switch sides...publicly.

Then-Senator Sessions did not have to vote for himself to prevail, so he voted “Present."

Half the Democrat caucus is up for reelection next year, ten of them from states won by Trump - five of them, including Manchin, from states Trump carried by double digits.

But some question whether Manchin would make a better Republican than, say, John McCain does . . .
