The American Civil Liberties Union vowed to sue Jeff Sessions if he violates the Constitution immediately after he was confirmed by the Senate as attorney general.

“If he violates the Constitution, we’ll sue,” the ACLU tweeted on Wednesday night.

The ACLU made the first successful lawsuit against the Trump administration in late January when it filed a complaint on behalf of two men who were detained at an airport as a result of Trump’s controversial executive order.

A federal judge filed an emergency stay on parts of the executive order at the time as a result.

The group has received a flood of donations and is setting itself up as one of the key players in coming legal fights over Trump's agenda.

Sessions was confirmed by the Senate after a contentious, all-night debate about his nomination. Sessions, a senator from Alabama, was eventually confirmed in a 52-47 vote.

The vote came after Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) was barred from speaking on the Senate floor against Sessions Tuesday night. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said her speech, in which she was reading a letter by Coretta Scott King against Sessions's federal judgeship nomination in the 1980s, was impugning another member of the Senate.

The ACLU will sue Sessions no matter what he does, regardless of Constitutionality. It's the army of lawyers for the Left.

“Some countries have vexacious litigation laws, but apparently the US doesn’t.”

Frivolous lawsuit penalties?

Sure we do. Clockboy’s lawsuit was tossed out and he was ordered to pay atty fees.

isn’t the ACLU funded in large part by the US Government via judgement settlements?

we need to do something about that

“Defund”

In addition to donations, they can get paid simply by winning cases. In civil liberties trials, if the plaintiff wins, they can get all legal expenses reimbursed.

This is the lifeblood of the ACLU. I often wonder if they colluded w/the gov to get that statute in place.

the aclu does not even understand the constitution. Maybe Levin and Cruz can explain it to them.

Repubs need to file a bill that does NOT give any taxpayer money to groups that sue the government. IF the ACLU wants to sue for every little thing, then they and their supporters can pay for it.

Maybe he should investigate the ACLU for RICO violations.

Maybe the AG will sue the ACLU when they advocate unconstitutionality.

If Sessions decides to investigate the ACLU he’ll find enough to break them and their members financially and send many of them to spend time with the clients that they lost for.

Agreed, I don’t doubt that at all and it’s way past time for the ACLU to be investigated.

I’m just spitballing here, but I imagine that AG Sessions isn’t going to lose a moment of sleep tonight over this “threat”.

People sue the AG all the time. So friggin what? They’re just wasting their own money and by extension, the taxpayer’s money. Bring it on, Snowflakes. It’s like Michael Moore threatening to eat six dozen donuts. So what else is new?

Couldn’t agree more, AG Sessions is not worried at all about these leftists.

I’d love to see Sessions find an angle on the ACLU, and shutter their anti-US operations.
