Bercow's speech was met with a round of applause from MPs in the Commons, which in usual circumstances is banned practice. Veteran Labour MP Dennis Skinner stood up to say "well done" to the House speaker.

Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn tweeted shortly after the speech: "Well said John Bercow. We must stand up for our country's values. Trump's State Visit should not go ahead."

Corbyn's Labour colleague Harriet Harman tweeted saying it was a "proud moment" for the House of Commons. In a statement, Liberal Democrat party leader leader Tim Farron said: "Trump should be under no illusion. We are snubbing him."

Farron actually said:

"Speaking within Parliament is a rare honour, the highest honour we can offer. In the past we have hosted speeches from leaders in equality, justice and human rights from Mandela to Obama to Aung San Suu Kyi. Trump is not fit to shine their shoes.

Obama? LOL!

You should never wound the King if you intend to kill him.

Like it or not, Trump is the Leader of the Free World.

Diss him at your own peril Brits.

Would not be surprised if they invited a jihadi head chopper to speak.

The Left takes such delight in engaging in these little cheap shots at our President, even if they are pointless and come across as childish. But that’s Leftism.

Did anyone ask if Trump even wanted to speak? That’s just like lib designers saying they wouldn’t dress Melania when they were never approached.

We beat their pants off once. Keep it up and we’ll do it again.

They can retire that old saying about the sun never setting on the British Empire.

These trips are only for show. Cancel the trip and the negotiation with diplomats and representative will be enough.

The Left wants to the opportunity to snub Trump and stage rallies and create incidents where the optics and narrative can depict him as an unpopular cartoon figure.

All Trump has to say is he needs to get down to business and these visits are just fluff and not cost effective.

Trump should just rent a place nearby. Invite all Prime Minister and all the MPs who voted in favor of letting Trump speak.

Boom, he gets to speak with a friendly audience and will have a much more productive meeting.

Maybe Trump can go all glitz and glam. Rent a place with his own money and have a five star dinner with some entertainment after the speaking is finished.

President Trump should order the DOD to buy a couple of billion dollars worth of tea on the open market thus driving up the afternoon price for the Brits.

The LibDems and Labour wonder why the Tories are eating their lunch.

Trump’s migrant ban isn’t unpopular in Britain.

An English Jew with a death-wish, rather welcoming muslim immigration over self-preservation? WTF is wrong with these types?

He and May can fet the job done, and ignoring the “royal drug dealing/climate change family” is a good idea too...

Would love love love to see Trump address the Senate the way the PM does in Parliament.

He__, let him address Parliament.

Maybe we'd better rethink this "Trans-Atlantic Partnership" business.

A better idea might be a Trans-Atlantic Partnership with Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, Ireland--or an alliance with people who are not sick with decadence.

There seem to be quite a few English people who are as sick with cultural, social, and moral decay as the worst of the Continental Europeans.

Trump will be barred from speaking in Parliament Business Insider ^ | February 6, 2017 | Adam Payne

LONDON — House of Commons Speaker John Bercow has announced that he intends to block US President Donald Trump from addressing Parliament when Trump visits the UK later this year.

The headline is BS.
