New England Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett refuses to attend the team's reception at the White House after winning the Super Bowl LI because he doesn't support President Donald Trump.
Bennett made the comments while both speaking with reporters and on Twitter, the Dallas Morning News reported on Monday.
Will Patriots TE Martellus Bennett make trip to White House if team goes to honor Super Bowl win? "I'm not going to go."

Highly (over)paid performers get their jobs and their politics confused.
Have you ever had a roofer or plumber refuse to do work for you because he’s a democrat and you’re not?
That’s what the “entertainers” did to President Trump/
Have you ever had to listen to a lecture about your political leanings when you are paying someone to do a job for you?
But Hollywood stars, stage performers and musicians expect us to listen to their rants and diatribes when we are paying them to perform for us.
Now we have entertainers in the sports world beginning to do the same.
Or he had to re-arrange his ring collection that day.................
I did notice that some of the players had their hands on their collars instead of over their hearts. I guess that was their compromise to Belicheck. But most of the Pats, White and Black, had their hands over their hearts during the National Anthem. GO PATS!
I concur with you. This douche bag will be gone in the offseason.
Meanwhile, this so-called “patriot” was almost certainly an Obama supporter. How ironic is that? A “patriot” that supported a “fundamental transformation” anti-American president.
I respect him as a player. As a person, not so much. But it’s still his right to do that. God Bless America!
Which African country was it (or was it another continent, maybe where Islam prevails) in which the dictator had a losing soccer team executed?
Replace him with a white guy. They seem to play ball better for the Pats than the black guys anywise.
Idiot.
I didn’t agree with Obama, but if I had had the opportunity to go and see the White House and meet with the sitting president, I would have gone.
Go and start a club with that other football player, Colin Kaepernick.
You can call it the “Meaningless Protest Club.”
It is about meeting the President and being recognized for being the best. It doesn’t matter “who” the President is, you go because the President is giving you the opportunity to be recognized as a world champion.
Guy is an idiot.
Every village has at least one idiot
He’s afraid he might like him if he meets him.
Nobody cares what he thinks about this anyway. Who he supported politically and whether he's going to the WH or not, is not news. It's nothing more than gossip.
The team, not Martellus, is being honored. There is no "i" in team.
“You know, was it my noticing only, but it seems like the Patriots are all cleaned cut atheletes. None of the players white or black with the extra long hair, which in my opinion will affect your play. It shows discipline.”

That is a very good point. The long dreadlocks; it seems to me it’s a way to pull someone down during a tackle. Plus the long hair might get in your eyes, etc.
My daughter played flag football before her scoliosis surgery; she has very long, beautiful auburn hair :) and always pulled it into a tight braid, bun, or well-fastened ponytail so she could see what she was doing.
Surprised that he knows which end of the football to hold.
Nobody cares.
Perhaps he will be on the Rams soon.
The whole tradition of teams going to the White House after winning a championship needs to end, anyway. The president is there to do a job for the country, not to entertain sports celebrities.
Just more Dr Pepper for the rest.
These ladies should be there soon to applaud him as they rise from their stadium seats and wave their little maple leaf flags and sing "Oh, Canada" while the great Canadian geese fly over the stands and poop on their heads.
