This reminds me of central America border adventures I had in the 80's - I put money in my passport and sailed through customs with no inspection (I was getting printing press parts across the border without getting them stuck in customs). SOP, it seems.

Wouldn’t a bribe involve money?

I was thinking it would be nice if she submitted an application in the form of a note, and was given the key to enter legally. But maybe that’s just me.
