Kremlin says it wants apology from Fox News over Putin comments
Reuters ^ | 02/06/17

The Kremlin said on Monday it wanted an apology from Fox News over what it said were "unacceptable" comments one of the channel's presenters made about Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with U.S. counterpart Donald Trump.

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly described Putin as "a killer" in the interview with Trump as he tried to press the U.S. president to explain more fully why he respected his Russian counterpart. O'Reilly did not say who he thought Putin had killed.

"We consider such words from the Fox TV company to be unacceptable and insulting, and honestly speaking, we would prefer to get an apology from such a respected TV company," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call.

Fox News and O'Reilly did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Trump's views on Putin are closely scrutinized in the United States where U.S. intelligence agencies have accused Moscow of having sponsored computer hacking to help Trump win office, and critics say he is too complimentary about the Russian leader.

Trump, when commenting on the allegations against Putin in the same interview, questioned how "innocent" the United States itself was, saying it had made a lot of its own mistakes. That irritated some Congressional Republicans who said there was no comparison between how Russian and U.S. politicians behaved.

No kidding. Russia would never behave like Congress who for decades turned our borders into a violent, lawless deadly joke then developed chain immigration policies allowing them to import terrorist and enemies right into the U.S., while compromising and undermining our country in every direction.

O’Reilly using “fighting words” to gin up the ratings.

By the time all the media is done getting their ratings they will drive us into WWIII.

Screw the phony left-wing snooze media. Read what top officials in the Trump administration have to say about Putin. See my earlier posts above on that, or my FR Home page.

Fighting Words

In 1942, the U.S. Supreme Court established the doctrine by a 9–0 decision in Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire.

It held that “insulting or ‘fighting words,’ those that by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace” are among the “well-defined and narrowly limited classes of speech the prevention and punishment of [which] … have never been thought to raise any constitutional problem.”

I thought it was wrong for Obama to not support the Iranians who wanted to overthrow the mad mullahs. I thought it was wrong for Obama to make a bad deal with Iran on nuclear weapons. I don’t think Obama’s bad policies make Putin’s bad ones good. Do you?

It seems that neocons are usually smeared as Jews, but now you’re smearing them as Saudis. Interesting.

Plus .. I find it interesting that the Russians are targeting Fox News, and not Bill O’Reilly and/or President Trump.

And .. the President Trump slight could be very telling.

You must have somehow missed my earlier posts on this (81 and 82).

Putin has been arming and supporting Iran for years. You didn't know that? Where the heck have you been?

“I don’t think Obama’s bad policies make Putin’s bad ones good. Do you?”

No, I don’t, you assumed wrong.

Do I think Putin is a bad Guy with some of his policies. yes.
Do I think O was a bad guy with some HIS policies. yes

Has Putin ordered people killed, probably.
Has O ordered people killed, probably.

It seems BOTH of this guys used “the ends justifies the means”

I think this is what President Trump was alluding to.

Now for Putin... He is a very strong leader for his Country, people, and traditions.

The O one’s policies disrupted the foundations of our Country.

So which one would you say was the better leader?

OK, if you're not defending him then you would be speaking for yourself. Because there now are lots of people on this site who think Putin is just great. Some actually know of his evil doings, others, most I suspect, know little to nothing about him and are being led astray by the true Putinistas. For some mysterious reason these phonies are given full reign here to spread their BS.

Lot's of leaders stand up for their country. I'm not going to say good things about their ultra nationalism when they're trying to restore and empire, destroy NATO, intimidate neutral nations, arm adversaries of the USA, work against Israel in the UN, and repress political opposition at home. If doing these things makes them a strong national leader, then I don't want them. I have conservative values. I believe in freedom, the rule of law, separation of powers, civil rights, property rights.

I'm not an advocate of autocracy, oligarchy, and national chauvinism. If we wanted America undermined and Putin empowered, we could have elected Hillary and let her continue Obama's failed policies vis a vie Putin.

Oh, is THAT why the Putinistas like him. I didn't know that.

"In the footage, Putin, 53, is shown walking up to a small crowd of tourists in a Kremlin courtyard and crouching down in front of the boy, who appears to be five or six years old. As the Russian president talks with Nikita for several seconds, he tugs at the boy's shirt before finally lifting it up and kissing him on his bare stomach.

"He seemed to me very independent, very serious, but at the same time a boy is always vulnerable. He was very sweet. I'll be honest: I felt an urge to squeeze him like a kitten, and that led to the gesture that I made. There was nothing behind it really," Putin said, smiling.
