Was this in east St. Louis?

Venice, Eminence Township, MO, about 55 miles Southwest of St. Louis. Significantly Rural, the good people.

If Venice is in Missouri how does Illinois law trump Missouri state law according to this quote from the article?

“Under Illinois law, someone committing a forcible felony, like the armed robbery, can be held legally accountable for a death that occurs while the felony is being committed, said Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons.”

Did the Illinois cops drag the dead and living suspects and the intended victim across the state line or is therea Venice, IL?

The article states "The Illinois State Police helped the Venice Police Department with the investigation."

Venice, MO? Somebody better tell the Illinois State Police. No, it occurred in Venice, IL in Madison County, a town about 4 miles from East St. Louis.
