Sounds like a great place to visit. Maybe the only place in the Middle East.
Dubai is capitalism on steroids. Skyscrapers everywhere, always trying to have the biggest malls and most unique architecture in the world. Indoor ski slopes, undersea aquariums, casinos on the islands of the Palm Jumeirah and other palm developments. They built a modern elevated train system 10 years ago that takes you throughout the city.
They have been planning several apartment towers that rotate so that every apartment has views of the city every day. That would be an engineering feat.
The developers have exploited workers to build everything, and it’s probably not a paradise for them. Contractors pay workers about $200 per month plus room and board, and put them up in labor camps. But most of these workers would make less than $500 PER YEAR in their home countries. So there’s always people willing to take these jobs.
