Counting Crows - Big yellow taxi

>
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swingin' hot spot
Don't it always seem to go

That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot

[Vanessa Carlton]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop

[Adam]
They took all the trees, and put em in a tree museum
And they charged the people a dollar and a half to see them

No, no, no
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise, and put up a parking lot

[Vanessa]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop

[Adam]

Hey farmer, farmer, put away your DDT
I don't care about spots on my apples,
Leave me the birds and the bees
Please
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Hey now, they paved paradise to put up a parking lot
Why not?

[Vanessa]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop

[Adam]
Listen, late last night, I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi took my girl away
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Well, don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone
They paved paradise to put up a parking lot
Why not?
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Hey hey hey
Paved paradise and put up a parking lot

[Vanessa]
Ooooh, bop bop bop
Ooooh, bop bop bop

[Adam, Vanessa]
I don't wanna give it
Why you wanna give it
Why you wanna giving it all away
Hey, hey, hey

Now you wanna give it
I should wanna give it
Now you wanna giving it all away

I don't wanna give it
Why you wanna give it
Why you wanna giving it all away
Hey, hey, hey
Now you wanna give it

I should wanna give it
Cos you giving it all away
Hey, hey, givin it all,
givin it all....away

[Vanessa]
Why do you want me?
why do you want me?

[Adam]

Cos' you're givin it all away,
Hey, paved paradise to put up a parking lot

kt tunstall - black horse and the cherry tree

Well my heart knows me better than I know myself
So I'm gonna let it do all the talking.

I came across a place in the middle of nowhere
With a big black horse and a cherry tree.

I felt a little fear upon my back
He said "Don't look back, just keep on walking."
When the big black horse said, "Hey lady!" {When the big black horse said, "Look this way"}

Said, "Look this way, will you marry me?" {Said, "Hey, lady, will you marry me?"}

But I said no, no, no, no-no-no
I said no, no, you're not the one for me
No, no, no, no-no-no
I said no, no, you're not the one for me

And my heart hit a problem, in the early hours,
So I stopped it dead for a beat or two.
But I cut some cord, and I shouldn't have done it,
And it won't forgive me after all these years

So I sent it to a place in the middle of nowhere
With a big black horse and a cherry tree.
Now it won't come back, 'cause it's oh so happy
And now I've got a hole for the world to see

And it said no, no, no, no-no-no
Said no, no, you're not the one for me
No, no, no, no-no-no-no
Said no, no, you're not the one for me

{Not the one for me}

Said no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
You're not the one for me

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
You're not the one for me

(do, do, do, do)

Well I was
Big black horse and a cherry tree
I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me
Big black horse and a cherry tree
(Big black horse and a cherry tree) I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me

(Big black horse and a cherry tree) I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me
(Big black horse and a cherry tree) I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me
No, no, no, no
(Big black horse and a cherry tree) I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me
No, no, no, no
(Big black horse and a cherry tree) I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me
(Big black horse and a cherry tree) I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me
(Big black horse and a cherry tree) I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me
I can't quite get there cause my heart's forsaken me

(Big black horse and a cherry tree) I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me
(Big black horse and a cherry tree) I can't quite get there 'cause my heart's forsaken me

Have you heard the answer to Roses are Red? It is the girls answer to RAR. It is called “Long as the Rose is Red.” It is a beautiful song. The singer is Florraine Darlin. I think that is how it is spelled.

Schubert: "The Lovely Color," D. 795/16

Ian Bostridge backed by Mitsuko Uchida. In German.

From his song cycle "The Fair Maid of the Mill" and one of the most depressing songs ever written.

The next song in the cycle goes from sadness to blind, murderous rage.

Schubert: "The Evil Color," D. 795/17

Rudolf Schock backed by Gerald Moore. In German.

Yes, indeed. I should add him to my list. His version is the best one.

“Green Green” got a lot of airplay out here in July, 1963. At the time, I didn’t know who Barry McGuire was, but about two years later, I sure did.

Fancy Colors - Chicago Transit Authority (which was later shortened to Chicago)

Personally I think their debut release kicked some serious buttock.
